"Our technician, Dameyan Jackson, called the night before the day of service to let me know the time that he would be here to service our system. On Friday, he called to let me know that he was available to come earlier than scheduled, if I would like. He arrived shortly after the phone call, came in and quickly recognized that the pump had failed. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very pleased with his service and look forward to him returning to install a new pump."

A functional sink was installed that did not come out into the doorway. A custom cabinet needed to be built for the plumbing.

"This is my second review. My first one was extremely positive. This one is a little different. All was good but the price. I was a little shocked but went ahead and had him do it anyway because I had company coming. The labor part of the bill was realy high. $525.00 to install a new toilet and bathroom sink. The new stuff fit right in so there was not problem there. The only parts they used were the mechanisms inside the toilet tank. Those aren't expensive. The rest was labor. He was here about two hours so I figure I must have paid over $200.00 an hour for labor. That's about as high as my ex wife's crooked divorce attorney. Very disappointed but great work once again."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for simple repairs. Professional services ensure proper diagnostics and long-term reliability.

The cost to repair a sump pump ranges from $400 to $550, depending on the extent of the repair and your location. Minor repairs, like fixing a switch or replacing a float, can cost just a few hundred dollars. However, more significant issues, such as motor replacement or addressing electrical problems, may cost closer to $550. Keep in mind that regular maintenance can help prevent costly repairs, and if a sump pump is beyond repair, a full system replacement ranges between $650 and $1,400.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.
