"We hired James, owner of Corban LLC, to do all the tile work for our complete home renovation. This included 3 full bathroom showers and flooring as well as a custom kitchen backsplash and a front entryway. James did a fantastic job! He is a true craftsman. As an added bonus, because of his extensive construction experience, he was able to help other subcontractors we hired to solve unforseen issues with the project. James lived up to his reputation as the best and we couldn't be happier with the results. We highly recommend James & Corban LLC! Bob Harris - Helena, MT."

"Steven is a hard worker but I would not hire again due to the fact he had cut our 220 wire leading to our bathroom heater. Steven did not inform us that it was cut. When the weather turned colder we tried to use the heater. We called our regular electrician and he informed us the wire had been cut during the bathtub installation."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

In Helena, MT, new homeowners should prioritize ceramic tile in high-moisture and high-traffic areas. Consider entryway or mudroom floors to handle snowy winters and muddy springs. Bathroom floors and showers are also critical due to temperature fluctuations. A kitchen backsplash protects walls from grease and moisture, while a fireplace surround is a popular choice for homes with long heating seasons, adding both durability and value.

Helpful?

In Helena, MT, look for signs of wear caused by the climate. Seasonal cracking from temperature cycles and deteriorating grout from dry air are key indicators. Also, listen for hollow sounds when tapping tiles, which signals adhesive failure. Water stains or any mold growth suggest the seal has failed, a critical issue to address before the winter freeze. Outdated styles can also prompt an update.

Helpful?

For ceramic tile projects in MT, choose materials that withstand the climate. Porcelain tiles are excellent for their freeze-thaw resistance and low water absorption. Use flexible, polymer-modified adhesives and durable epoxy grout to handle temperature fluctuations. A crack isolation membrane is essential for homes in areas with settling soils. For safety in wet or icy conditions, select textured tiles with a high slip-resistance rating.

Helpful?

You can safely handle minor ceramic tile issues in your Helena home. Use a pH-neutral cleaner to avoid damage from local hard water deposits. For small cracks, apply a flexible caulk rated for Montana's wide temperature swings. You can also reseal grout with a mold-resistant sealer. However, for structural cracks, water damage, or large areas of loose tiles, it's best to call a professional.

Helpful?

When planning ceramic tile service projects in Helena, consider the climate. Extreme temperature swings require flexible installation materials and expansion joints. The high elevation means increased UV exposure, which can fade some tile colors. Also, be aware that Lewis and Clark County may require permits for renovations. Finally, contractor availability is highest during the short construction season from May to October, so plan your project accordingly.
