Small jobs welcome

"I called United Prime Van Lines only 1 week before my move - they were extremely helpful and accommodating. On the day of the move we hit a snag, as there was someone else moving on my floor at the same time and we only had 1 elevator. They made the most of it and we moved a lot of stuff down 4 flights of stairs in a timely manner. Trustworthy and competent!"

Moving questions, answered by experts

For moving projects in Billings, choose heavy-duty plastic wrap and moisture barriers to protect against sudden weather changes. Insulated blankets help shield electronics from temperature swings, while waterproof bins are ideal for basement storage. Anti-static packing materials are useful in dry winter air. Keep ice melt and traction mats handy for slick walkways, and use tarps to quickly cover items if unexpected storms roll in.

Helpful?

In Billings, hidden costs during moving projects can include extra fees for navigating snow or ice, storage charges if weather causes delays, and long carry fees for homes on hillsides. You may also encounter elevator fees in downtown buildings, rural delivery surcharges, and charges for city permits or parking meters. Delays in utility connections or service transfers are also common during extreme weather conditions.

Helpful?

In Billings, homeowners often underestimate how quickly weather can shift, leading to belongings being damaged by sudden snow or rain. Many forget to check for parking restrictions near downtown or historic areas, which can delay moving trucks. Failing to reserve moving professionals early during busy seasons or overlooking elevation changes near the Rimrocks can also complicate moving projects and increase stress on moving day.

Helpful?

Moving in Billings often means preparing your home for temperature swings and winter conditions. Before your move, inspect insulation, weatherproof doors and windows, and winterize plumbing if needed. During the move, protect floors from mud and moisture, especially in spring, and use corner guards for older door frames. After settling in, test heating systems, check smoke detectors, and ensure outdoor faucets are properly winterized.

Helpful?

When evaluating moving professionals in Billings, be wary of quotes that seem unusually low or lack details about handling winter conditions. Watch for movers who don’t mention insurance coverage for weather-related risks or seem unfamiliar with local neighborhoods and traffic patterns. Avoid companies that don’t offer climate-controlled storage or fail to discuss equipment for icy driveways, as these are crucial for safe moving projects in Billings.
