They were very responsive to what I envisioned for my place and gave me assistance and support throughout the whole process, including advice when needed. The Peaches and Cream team made themselves available whenever needed and provided needed reassurance when I waffled on some of my decisions. "Other than a late start the team was focused and knowledgeable. They took great care to cleanly remove the damaged flooring and professionally install the replacement. It should be notes that the old flooring was incorrectly glued, making the task very tedious and difficult. The result is that you can't tell where the repair is without knowing its location. Well done."

Residential Design FAQs, answered by experts

It depends on the scope of the project and your confidence in your own design capabilities. If you’re simply replacing a few appliances or want to change the cabinetry, you most likely do not need a designer. If you’re doing a full reno, you should bring in a pro unless you have a very strong design sense and want to spend hours laboring over the various technical details.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Whether hiring an interior designer is worth the cost depends on your budget, the scope of the project, and your own design and project management skills. For larger projects or those beyond your DIY skills, an interior designer is often a worthwhile investment. The benefits include realizing the best layout, functionality, and decor for your lifestyle and taste; managing the project to keep it on track and within budget; serving as a point of contact for contractors; accessing discounts from suppliers; and assisting with home staging for a sale.

Costs range from $50 to $200 per hour or $2,000 to $10,000 per project, depending on scope and experience.

Depending on project size, materials, and complexity, design fees range from $2,000 to $15,000.
