"We hired Mr Eubanks to add insulation to the attic of an existing home we had years ago, and really liked his professionalism and pricing as well. I happened on his company on the internet & recognized his name...and immediately called. There were a couple of minor problems found by the inspectors on the new house we built; upon calling him he said his worker would call the next day and make it right. The worker did, and he did, with no questions asked. The necessary improvements were performed later the same day. This is REAL customer service, and my wife and I are most pleased! Highly recommend!"

The primary purpose of insulation is to maintain comfortable temperatures in a home, whether that’s cool air when it’s hot out, or warm air in winter, but that’s not all it can do. Single-pane windows might let in the cold, but if you’re not ready for a long-term solution or window replacement, there are quick fixes to keep your space warmer. Start by sealing gaps with weatherstripping or caulking around the frame to block drafts. For an extra barrier, apply window insulation film to the glass, trapping an air pocket between the film and the window. Thick curtains or thermal drapes can also help keep the chill at bay. And if you’re in a pinch and looking to get creative, bubble wrap can provide a surprisingly effective layer of insulation—just spritz the window with water and press it on, bubble side in.

Natural fiber batts and spray foam insulation both work great for soundproofing. Newer materials, such as hemp batts, are more expensive but more effective for insulation and sound blocking. They are also more sustainable. There is also a professional system called Blow-In Blanket Insulation (BIBS) that is soundproof and moisture-resistant. However, BIBS must be installed professionally and can be a costly investment.

You don’t need to staple insulation, as your drywall and studs will hold it into place. But if you already have a staple gun and staples lying around, it can help keep the product in place and avoid any shifting. But, most experts agree it’s an unnecessary step.

If you’re adding a vapor barrier, you will need to staple that in place.
