"Mr Taylor is always quick to respond to my service calls. He does quality work at a reasonable price. As an out of town landlord, it is important to have someone in the market that I can trust to do the work at a fair price and Mr Taylor is one of my “go to” guys. He sends me before and after pictures which are important to me. I would definitely recommend Mr Taylor and will continue to use his services."

"Mr. Ball and his crew were real professional. I had some exterior trim rot that needed replacing and also painted. He told me ahead of time, how much, when and what time they would arrive, what all they were going to do, (replace rotted trim, caulk the entire trim, and repaint the entire trim.) Even told me the name brand paint he would be using. (Lol) he told me it would take 3 days, but only took 2. I will be calling him back for my next project. Thank you so much. Oh, and they didn't leave a mess in the yard,"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.

In most states, handypeople do not need to be licensed to perform simple home repair tasks and smaller jobs. When projects exceed specific cost amounts, however, ranging from $500 in California to $50,000 in other states, some municipalities consider them to be contractors, meaning they need to be licensed. To learn if your handyperson should be licensed to work on your job, contact your local governing body or state contractors’ licensing board before starting any work.

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

There are a few advantages to hiring a handyperson as a contractor, namely that they will likely charge less for their services since they don’t have as much overhead. A handyperson might also have more flexibility and be more involved in your specific home project, so you can communicate with one person instead of a subcontractor team.
