"Colorfx Custom Coatings of Oxford did a very good paint job. The bill for the front door, the entry trim and some trim on a small screened in porch was $1391. I urge that prospective customers insist on best business practices — get a written estimate up front on official letterhead that includes precise details of labor costs and all materials. Bryan Mackey stated that he charges $65 an hour. Be sure to clarify ahead of time whether the written estimate is a flexible ballpark figure or a bottom line guaranteed price for labor. Insist ahead of time on receiving current receipts for all materials and keep track of actual hours worked on the job site."

My name is Jason Nold. I’ve been in construction for as long as I can remember. I am a trim carpenter by trade with 25 years’ experience. I can assure you my crew is well rounded. I’ve hired professionals in many trades to assure you a superior product. Our work is guaranteed, but most importantly, we are respectful of your home. I’ve tried to return to the days of turn-key jobs as much as possible only using outside sub-contractors for plumbing, mechanical and electrical work where the proper permits are required. We are family owned and operated. We would love to add your next project to our next available opening.

Cabinet Refacing and Refinishing questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, avoid harsh chemicals, and address scratches or dents promptly to preserve their appearance.

Small to medium-sized cabinetry typically takes three to five days, whereas large cabinetry takes around seven days. The complete process includes:

  • Removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware.

  • Removing the existing stain or paint.

  • Sanding cabinet frames, doors, and drawers.

  • Staining each side of the cabinetry one at a time. You’ll have to wait for the first side to dry before staining the other side.

  • Waiting for the doors, drawers, and frames to dry fully.

  • Reattaching hardware and hinges.

  • Putting the doors and drawers back on the cabinet boxes.

Clean regularly, avoid harsh chemicals, and check hinges for proper alignment to ensure longevity.

Maintaining painted cabinets includes regular cleaning with non-abrasive solutions and avoiding harsh chemicals that may strip paint layers.

Since there are many methods of repairing your cabinets, including refacing and refinishing, it can be tricky to know when to replace or fix your existing cabinets. Generally, it’s best to repair your existing cabinets when the cabinet boxes are in good condition. Additionally, this option is best when you’re being budget-friendly or remodeling.

Replacing your cabinets is best when you’re changing the layout of the room or when the cabinet boxes are in rough shape. It’s also best to replace your cabinets if you need more storage space, as this will remove the existing cabinets for new ones.
