"I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

"I did have Davis & Son repair my Heating system and they did a very good job. When I called to have them install a gas line (about 10 feet), they were going to get back to me with a quote and timeline. That was a month ago - nothing. I called and had another firm complete the work in 3 hours. Disappointed that they never called back."

"I found these folks here on HomeAdvisor! Extensive Flooring Project with an "Out of this World" Result!! Our home had severe water damage due to a water heater that had leaked for a long period of time before it finally let go. Needless to say, there was no way to know for sure just how bad it was until the demolition work began. We soon found out that most of the underlayment and subfloor would have to be removed and other repairs made before we would ever see our new flooring in place. Casey and Wendy did a fantastic job helping us along to the start. They were very responsive to our requests for quotes and even made an additional trip out when we uncovered important information. Once the renovation began, Casey and Craig worked their tails off to make everything right. With the joists exposed we were able to see the many areas that needed to be addressed before any flooring went down. There was plumbing that had leaks, joists in one area that had to be replaced, drain pipes that were broken, HVAC ducts that were missing insulation and rusting... and mold. A project that should have taken 10 days, quickly turned into a month-long ordeal. That is not a complaint. What I'm saying is that they did everything that was necessary and more to ensure that all of the issues that arose were resolved properly. I never once heard talk of any short cuts, rather, the discussions were about how to do something the right way. Obviously, there were changes from the original quote and these were all handled in written estimates. Billing was done at agreed upon intervals with no surprises. There were times when the costs were adjusted down due to changes as well. They are very open and fair in how they deal with clients. The end result is not just gorgeous floors, which they are, but we know that everything done to get there was done right and that there are no outstanding issues that could come back to haunt us (or Casey). Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Harris Renovations, LLC for their outstanding effort and beautiful result on our new floors! Thanks Casey, Wendy, and Craig!!"

The average cost to install a new water heater is around $1,300, but you can expect to pay between $875 and $1,750, depending on the kind of water heater, the size of the unit, and the professional chosen to complete the work. Tankless water heaters can push your price higher, as installation is more complicated, with prices as high as $3,500. The location and accessibility of your water heater will play a role in the project cost, as those sitting in tight spaces like a crawl space will drive up your labor costs.
Tankless water heaters are more expensive than those with a storage tank, but they come with some impressive benefits that most homeowners find worth the higher investment. Most importantly, they provide unlimited hot water, so you’ll never run out like you would with a storage tank. Tankless heaters are also more efficient, so comparing gallon-for-gallon, you’ll spend less on hot water with a tankless heater. Tankless water heaters are also smaller, require less maintenance, and tend to last longer than storage tank water heaters.
It usually takes a professional water heater installer between two and three hours to remove an existing water heater and install a new tank heater. However, it could take four to five hours if they have to work in a small utility closet or another tight area, like a crawl space. Tankless water heaters have a more complicated installation process, so they will take a bit longer. Additionally, a gas water heater requires a connection to a gas line, and that alone can add about an hour to the installation timeline compared to installing an electric water heater.
It is very difficult and dangerous to install your own water heater, so we strongly recommend against tackling this as a DIY project. Not only will you need to wire your water heater, but you’ll also need to connect plumbing to the intake and outlet. Sweating copper pipes and connecting wiring properly are skills most DIYers don’t have, and even if you do feel confident you can do it, working with water and electricity always leaves the potential for electrocution. Hiring a local water heater installer is well worth the investment.
In most municipalities, a license is not mandatory for water heater installation or replacement. However, we strongly recommend hiring a licensed plumber or water heater installer to handle the work. Licensed installers are far less likely to make a mistake during the installation, which means paying for the experience decreases your risk of a leak and other issues. You can use our state licensing tool to find out if a contractor you’re considering in your area holds a plumber’s license.
