"It's high time to complement Adam at the Vac Shack in Festus! I called yesterday asking if he could clean and check out our aging Dyson 14 vacuum cleaner. He said he could, that's he'd be open at 9:30 Wednesday -- he was and he did! He tore it down completely, replacing belts, cleaning everything, including a filter I frankly never saw before, and sent me out with an "all-up" machine. And as he promised, he did it while I waited to keep me from making two 96-mile round trips from Waterloo, IL. This is service in the best sense of the word! Thank you!"

I started my company with the intent to help and show transparency to my customers and to educate them to the best of my abilities on the system that keeps their Home Comfortable. Most Companies will come in to a house fix the issue then leave… That’s where we try and separate ourselves by finding the culprit, educating our customers on why it happened and how to prevent future problems. \n\nWe at Show-Me Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning take pride in our work, and if we wouldn’t do it in our house we wouldn’t do it to yours.

Central Vacuum Cleaners questions, answered by experts

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.

Yes, installing a central vacuum system typically adds value to your home. The ease of use, longevity, and superior suction power of a central vacuum system can add up to $2,000 to your home’s value if you decide to sell. Potential buyers may consider the central vacuum a perk to purchasing your home.

Experienced professionals don’t usually need to take down drywall to install the central vacuum. They are experienced in working in the tight spaces between walls and in crawl spaces to minimize any damage. The only drywall changes should be the holes cut for the new outlets. However, home design, existing plumbing, and other factors may require some modification. An estimate from a professional contractor should include information if any changes need to be made.

The disadvantages associated with central vacuums start with cost. They are expensive to install, especially in existing homes, as retrofitting requires opening walls. The system's bulky hoses can also be inconvenient to maneuver and store compared to portable vacuums. Additionally, repairs may need professional service, adding to maintenance costs. Lastly, while powerful, they may be overkill for smaller homes or apartments, making the investment less practical for some households.
