"Matt arrived on time and was efficient at replacing floor tiles. Do you think customer service is gone, well so did we until Matt Hemingway came to replace three broken tiles. He finished in 90 minutes and that included going back to hardware store for a different color grout because he didn't like the way it looked. When done you could not tell the floor had been fixed. Excellent job. Highly recommend."

"Working with Vernon was so easy. He communicated the progress on my unit through the project. He shared pictures along the way as well. He even came up with a simple solution to a small issue we had with our walls not being completely straight and out floors not being entirely level back when the home was built 20 years ago. He made the unit completely level and came up with a solution to hide how he made it level. The unit is beautiful and I would recommend Vernon to anyone looking to have quality woodworking done at their house."

Hi my name is Gavin. I am 19 years old and have already worked multiple different trades and I’ve learned a lot of things from professional contractors. I am now trying to start a business of my own and trying to establish jobs for myself to get this business started. If you’d like to give me the opportunity, it would be a great pleasure and I will do my best to make you happy as I should as an owner of a company I will get fair prices based on my knowledge of doing it and be completely honest with you before doing it. Thank you.

"It is a waste of money. The great majority of people are not going to find any value out of the service. If you need design consultation, you need a full service consultation. If you already have knowledge and experience, and you just need to get a few ideas, then you don't need to pay for that. You can just get a magazine or a book since you already have the knowledge of basic designs in your head or a little bit of experience. To have someone call you and give you information over the phone, you are not getting the personal service that you need. You may as well take the money $49 and apply it to something else like getting someone else to come out and give you the service that you need. Because, you are not getting much, you are not getting anything at all. They are going to have you do the work. After talking to them and I was talking to other home designers, I found out that that was a waste of time and waste of money. I gave them a C because they didn't fail at what they do but they don't offer any value for what they do. There's not much value to it. The cost was fair. They didn't do a terrible job and the cost isn't terrible, it was only $49. It just has a very low value. For responsiveness I gave them a B because they will answer your phone and answer your emails."

"Jay did a great job. I underestimated the amount of work that needed to be done to fix my kitchen cabinets. We painted our cabinets ourselves and in the process did not hang them back properly. It was quite an undertaking to repair. Jay meticulously reconfigured the cabinets and repaired them to their original condition. I plan on hiring Jay's Handyman Services for other projects we have in the future."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Signs of quality upholstering in Washington include consistent fabric tension, straight and even seams, and patterns that align properly across the piece. Well-secured buttons, smooth corners, and hidden staples or tacks are important details. The furniture should feel sturdy and comfortable, with padding evenly distributed. If protective treatments were requested, ensure the fabric feels resistant to moisture and stains, which is especially helpful given local weather conditions.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Washington often favor farmhouse and rustic styles, with a preference for neutral tones and textured fabrics. Durable, stain-resistant textiles are especially popular for busy households, and many opt for pet-friendly materials. Vintage-inspired designs and mixed materials, such as combining leather with woven fabrics, are trending. Removable covers and reversible cushions are also sought after for flexibility and easy maintenance throughout changing seasons.

Helpful?

The property’s condition in Washington often guides choices in fabric and style. For historic homes, selecting period-appropriate textiles and custom finishes can help preserve character. Modern homes may inspire bold colors or performance fabrics for easy care. In family homes, durability and stain resistance are priorities, while rural properties often call for earth-toned, heavy-duty materials. Local climate factors, like humidity, also influence the need for breathable, moisture-resistant fabrics.

Helpful?

In Washington, cosmetic upholstering projects typically involve updating the look of furniture—choosing new fabrics, colors, or patterns to match current décor or seasonal trends. Functional projects go deeper, addressing issues like broken springs, sagging cushions, or weakened frames. For functional needs, it’s important to inspect the furniture’s structure and padding, ensuring repairs restore both comfort and long-term durability, especially for older or heirloom pieces.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Washington frequently balance the desire for high-quality, durable fabrics against the need for affordability. Choosing between quick, standard solutions and custom, detail-oriented work is common. There’s also a decision between following current design trends or selecting timeless, family-friendly materials. Additionally, homeowners must weigh the benefits of professional upholstery services versus attempting a DIY approach for smaller projects.
