"Very happy with the electrician and the work he did. However, charged $150 for a part available for $16.99 at Home Depot plus labor and call charge. $325.00 for a $17.00 part and 20 minutes work."

"Brian was excellent. Took the time to diagnose the root cause of the electrical outlet issue I was having and fixed it. Also went out of his way to give me quotes and recommendations on updating my electrical system in my older home."

"I had a super difficult problem. My lamp post kept flipping the breaker of my front living room. Another Electrician was here twice and finally told me it was a dusk/dawn "solar eye" that I got at Lowes that you put between the light bulb and the socket. It did not work. Cost $300.00!!!!! Issue was not resolved. Then, per your recommendation, I called this guy. I charged $150.00 to come and for the first hour. That's no different than other electricians who charge $75.00 to show and $75.00 the first hour. Long story short, he found two cut places in the line where either the landscaper or concrete guy cut and frayed the electrical line from the house to the post. Gary replaced the whole line. When he went down to the fuze box, he discovered that Verizon, when putting in FIOS a couple years ago, never sealed the area properly. Gary said he could see daylight through my basement and water was behind my fuze box. I was furious. Verizon also cracked my concrete pad coming out of the garage. It's one of those things that can't be proved, but how else could it have happened? The cost was $750.00. In the spring I have to get my fuze box redone and Gary of Midnight Sun will be the one doing it. He was relentless and even called me twice (once on a weekend) when we were trying to figure out where in the house the breakers were flipping. I was setting switches different ways."

"Jordon was very helpful in assistance in getting our electrical breaker box upated. He actually put in a new box and circut breakers as ours was getting very coroded and unsafe. He also installed a new outlet and a new light fixture. We would highly recommend. We will also have Jordon back to run electrical for our shed and outlet for our RV."

"Through a thorough investigation I found that there are few people in the United States who know how to properly install lightning rods. The grounding is essential for it to be effective. There are some companies who think they know how to install a lightning rod system, seem very cost effective, but take the time to find out exactly what they plan to do on your building. Seamus Donohue has been in the business for years, is well known and respected by the premier supplier in Missouri of lightning rod supplies, goes all over the country and does excellent work with very pleasant employees. We would recommend this company to anyone who feels the need to get lightning rods for a building. Little trivia--1 in every 200 homes will be hit by lightning this years AND lightning does strike twice in the same place!"

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Local electricians with experience in your area understand the local building codes, which is very important when doing new electrical work. They also have experience with the kind of electrical problems homes in your location may have, and even the components that were used in the original construction, which leads them to make faster and better decisions.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Charging your EV every night isn’t always necessary. Most EVs have sufficient range to cover daily commutes without needing a nightly charge, particularly if you have a Level 2 charger. Charging once every few days or as needed can prolong the battery’s lifespan.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.
