"From start to finish we had good service. We had some amazing guys that installed the fence. They worked very hard to get the job done and they were very nice. I had to call the office sometime later about my gate and received a quick response. I also referred two of my daughters there for their fences."

"Chesterfield Fence and Deck repaired the storm damage to our deck from a year ago. We are extremely happy with everything they did for us. Melissa and Mustafa helped us get started and Suvad did the work. It was unbelievable how professional and courteous he was, and he went the extra mile a few times such as tightening screws that were not flush with the decking to begin with, replacing screws to the posts that were of more proper size, double checking replacement step samples even bringing us samples to make sure we were happy. This guy is amazing, ask for him! Thank you Chesterfield Fence and Deck!"

"Great experience and great quality! We had an old chainlink fence removed and a new fence installed that was partially wood privacy and partially black chainlink. We received great communication throughout the process and the crew who installed the fence was thorough and easy to work with. Very happy with the fence and would absolutely use them again!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Fencing projects in St Louis require attention to seasonal changes. In spring, check for damage from ice and salt, and trim back fast-growing vines common in the area. Summer maintenance includes cleaning surfaces and monitoring for carpenter ants. Fall is ideal for applying sealant to wood fences, while winter calls for removing snow and ice buildup, especially on metal fencing, to prevent rust and prolong durability.

Helpful?

Bundling fencing projects with other outdoor upgrades in St Louis, such as installing patios, landscaping, or outdoor lighting, can streamline the process and reduce overall disruption. Coordinating these improvements allows for shared labor and equipment, making scheduling and permit management more efficient. Many St Louis homeowners choose spring for combined projects, taking advantage of milder weather and optimal growing conditions for new landscaping.

Helpful?

Before requesting fencing services in St Louis, homeowners should gather a recent property survey to confirm boundaries, take clear photos and measurements of any existing fence, and note the locations of visible utility markers. It’s important to observe soil and drainage patterns, especially after rainfall, and to review any neighborhood restrictions or HOA rules. Also, check local setback and height regulations, as these can differ by neighborhood.

Helpful?

In St Louis, fencing projects can be handled by dedicated fence contractors, landscaping companies, custom builders, or general home improvement firms. Some specialize in traditional St Louis styles like ornamental iron, while others focus on privacy or decorative wood fencing. Look for contractors with extensive local experience, positive references, and a reputation for quality craftsmanship to ensure your fencing project meets your needs and local standards.

Helpful?

Homeowners in St Louis are typically involved in selecting fencing materials, styles, and heights that comply with local codes. You’ll choose gate placements, finishes, and approve permit applications. During installation, you may need to confirm property lines and utility locations, discuss solutions for drainage or landscaping, and inspect the completed fence. Planning for ongoing fence maintenance is also essential in Missouri’s changing climate.
