"I used HomeAdvisor to find a contractor to replace a skylight in our roof back in January. I ended up using a contractor called Dr. Drywall. He did the service promptly and everything seemed fine. A couple of weeks ago, we noticed that it was leaking in the rain. So, I contacted customer service to get his phone number again. I have contacted him twice now and left voice messages, but have received no response. It turned out he had lost his phone and got a new one and he called me back as soon as he had my number again. He has come back twice and we have had no further issue. He is a good man that does professional work."

"A to Z converted our wood burning fireplace into an infrared electric fireplace and custom built trim to hold the new fireplace in the opening. My husband and I are elderly and the wood fireplace was of no use to us due to the physical demands of handling wood and cleaning ash. ....electric was the perfect solution to warming the living area while keeping our utility bill low!"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Digging for a post easily strikes underground gas, fiber optic, or water lines. State law in MO requires contacting the utility locate service before starting any excavation. Improper post placement also disrupts curbside stormwater drainage, redirecting water toward your foundation. Additionally, heavy digging undermines concrete driveway edges, causing cracks. If you own a lighted unit, mailbox repair disrupts buried low-voltage landscape wiring.

Helpful?

Common mistakes in Springfield include starting work without required permits, using materials not rated for local weather, and overlooking city inspection requirements. Homeowners sometimes underestimate the complexity of electrical or plumbing repairs, leading to code violations. According to Springfield Building Development Services, careful planning, using approved materials, and verifying permit needs before starting any handyman project can help avoid costly setbacks and ensure safety.

Helpful?

Completing your mailbox repair immediately restores local postal delivery and prevents municipal code violations. Securing the post before winter ensures it withstands heavy snowplow activity. Over the long term, a well-maintained post preserves your standing with neighborhood associations and boosts your property value in the competitive Springfield real estate market. Proper installation also prevents interference with public stormwater drainage, protecting you from liability.

Helpful?

Springfield homeowners benefit from a variety of local suppliers specializing in home repair materials, including moisture-resistant drywall and treated lumber ideal for the region's humidity. For exterior projects, opt for weather-resistant siding and fasteners. Consulting local building material suppliers ensures you're meeting Springfield's building codes and getting products suited for the area's climate, as recommended by the Springfield Building Development Services.

Helpful?

If your post is leaning, the issue stems from soil movement in the rocky Springfield clay, requiring foundation work rather than just mailbox repair. Check if winter snowplows caused the damage, as local municipal offices handle those claims. Also, ensure overgrown landscaping or driveway erosion does not block access. Finally, review your neighborhood guidelines, as strict local mandates require full replacements rather than simple fixes.
