"They did a wonderful job and were great to work with. They replace some porch boards, painted the garage door and front door, replaced weatherstripping around garage, painted the trim around the front of the house and the windows as well as painted the porch. They had started work and had to pause because of a storm but were really prompt about rescheduling to two days later and got the job done really well. Would definitely recommend and we plan to hire them again!"

"We have used him for 4 projects. 3 were small and one was significant, including wall demolition/repair and repairing some floor joists. For all of these projects, he was consistently punctual, efficient, and charged a fair price. He has creative ideas, and a customer-first approach."

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

Hire a local professional who holds an active municipal business license for your mailbox repair. Your contractor must submit a utility locate request before digging to protect you from legal liability. Ensure the pro understands specific local postal delivery heights and setbacks to avoid non-delivery notices. A knowledgeable expert in MO also knows how to properly anchor posts to resist winter freeze-thaw cycles in rocky clay soil.

Helpful?

Springfield’s climate—with humid summers, cold winters, and frequent storms—affects both timing and materials for handyman projects. Spring and fall are ideal for exterior home repairs or maintenance. Choosing moisture-resistant materials is crucial to prevent mold or rot. Weatherproofing and foundation care should be prioritized before winter. Planning projects around tornado season and freeze-thaw cycles ensures repairs last and your home stays protected year-round.

Helpful?

Piling mulch against your post traps moisture from heavy Springfield spring rains, accelerating wood rot. Leaving winter road salt on metal posts destroys protective coatings, so rinse the surface after snow events. Forcing oversized packages into the box breaks door hinges and latches. Additionally, hitting the base with a string trimmer strips away protective layers, leaving your fresh mailbox repair vulnerable to rapid decay.

Helpful?

Common mistakes in Springfield include starting work without required permits, using materials not rated for local weather, and overlooking city inspection requirements. Homeowners sometimes underestimate the complexity of electrical or plumbing repairs, leading to code violations. According to Springfield Building Development Services, careful planning, using approved materials, and verifying permit needs before starting any handyman project can help avoid costly setbacks and ensure safety.

Helpful?

Digging for a post easily strikes underground gas, fiber optic, or water lines. State law in MO requires contacting the utility locate service before starting any excavation. Improper post placement also disrupts curbside stormwater drainage, redirecting water toward your foundation. Additionally, heavy digging undermines concrete driveway edges, causing cracks. If you own a lighted unit, mailbox repair disrupts buried low-voltage landscape wiring.
