"They did a wonderful job and were great to work with. They replace some porch boards, painted the garage door and front door, replaced weatherstripping around garage, painted the trim around the front of the house and the windows as well as painted the porch. They had started work and had to pause because of a storm but were really prompt about rescheduling to two days later and got the job done really well. Would definitely recommend and we plan to hire them again!"

"We have used him for 4 projects. 3 were small and one was significant, including wall demolition/repair and repairing some floor joists. For all of these projects, he was consistently punctual, efficient, and charged a fair price. He has creative ideas, and a customer-first approach."

Small jobs welcome

"Excellent experience from start to finish. They installed a dog door, a bathroom exhaust fan, and a couple ceiling fans, and everything was completed professionally and with great attention to detail. They showed up on time, kept the work area clean, and made sure everything worked perfectly before leaving. The pricing was fair, communication was excellent, and the quality of the workmanship exceeded my expectations. I would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable home improvement services"

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

In Springfield, handyman contractors range from versatile professionals handling home repair and maintenance to specialists in areas like carpentry, drywall, or remodeling. Some operate independently, while others are part of local teams or larger franchises. You’ll also find contractors focused on property management, serving rental and commercial properties. Choosing the right type depends on your project’s complexity and whether you need ongoing maintenance or a one-time fix.

Helpful?

Springfield’s climate—with humid summers, cold winters, and frequent storms—affects both timing and materials for handyman projects. Spring and fall are ideal for exterior home repairs or maintenance. Choosing moisture-resistant materials is crucial to prevent mold or rot. Weatherproofing and foundation care should be prioritized before winter. Planning projects around tornado season and freeze-thaw cycles ensures repairs last and your home stays protected year-round.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Springfield sometimes overlook checking a handyman’s experience with local home styles or skip verifying insurance. Another common mistake is failing to get a detailed, written estimate, which can lead to misunderstandings. Not accounting for Springfield’s humidity or foundation issues may cause repairs to fail prematurely. Always clarify the project scope, ask about past work in similar homes, and confirm the contractor’s familiarity with local maintenance challenges.

Helpful?

Digging for a post easily strikes underground gas, fiber optic, or water lines. State law in MO requires contacting the utility locate service before starting any excavation. Improper post placement also disrupts curbside stormwater drainage, redirecting water toward your foundation. Additionally, heavy digging undermines concrete driveway edges, causing cracks. If you own a lighted unit, mailbox repair disrupts buried low-voltage landscape wiring.

Helpful?

In Springfield, most handyman projects involving structural changes, electrical work, plumbing, or HVAC require permits from the Building Development Services. For example, replacing wiring or adding outlets, altering plumbing lines, or building decks all need approval. Minor cosmetic repairs may not require permits, but it's best to confirm with Building Development Services or the Springfield Department of Public Works to ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.
