"Mark and his crew were very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We bought the wrong sized product but they were able to create the perfect bathtub and shower. In addition, I was impressed with the daily cleanup. No messes left behind. Mark and his crew also installed 3 ceiling fans and did additional plumbing. I am planning on having them come back for additional upgrades."

"Greene Planet gave us a free inspection of mold in crawl space & within two weeks work to remove the mold, began. It took 4 days of which the crew was here on time everyday and worked diligently for 8 hours each day. Greene Planet did exactly what they said they would do in their written bid. Very polite workers. The cost of the mold remediation, vapor proofing with an added dehumidifier, was very reasonably priced. Thank you, Greene Planet! You saved us!!!!!!!!!!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

For Springfield homes, PEX piping is recommended for water supply lines due to its durability in fluctuating temperatures and resistance to mineral buildup, which is important given the area's hard water. Copper is also a reliable choice for local water quality. For drain lines, PVC is standard per Springfield plumbing codes. Always choose fixtures rated for hard water to extend the lifespan of your plumbing system.

Helpful?

In Springfield, be cautious of plumbers who lack a valid license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or cannot provide proof of insurance. Avoid those requesting full payment upfront or offering unusually low estimates, as this may indicate non-compliance with local plumbing codes. Always request references from recent Springfield projects and verify that your contractor understands local plumbing permit requirements for peace of mind.

Helpful?

Regular maintenance is crucial for plumbing systems in Springfield. Inspect for leaks monthly, especially after seasonal temperature changes, and flush your water heater twice a year to reduce mineral buildup from hard water. Before winter, insulate exposed pipes and winterize outdoor faucets. The Building Development Services Department recommends annual checks on sump pumps and backflow prevention devices to comply with local plumbing codes and prevent costly issues.

Helpful?

In Springfield, unexpected costs during plumbing work often stem from local plumbing code upgrades required by the Building Development Services Department, or from discovering outdated galvanized pipes common in older neighborhoods. Challenging local clay soil can also increase labor if digging is needed. Consulting a licensed plumber familiar with Springfield's unique conditions helps anticipate these issues and ensures your project follows all plumbing permit requirements.

Helpful?

In Springfield, most plumbing work—including new installations, major repairs, or remodels—requires a plumbing permit from the Building Development Services Department. Homeowners working on their primary residence may apply for permits themselves, but hiring a licensed local plumber ensures compliance with Springfield's plumbing codes. Inspections, such as rough-in and final checks, are required by city officials to verify all work meets local plumbing permit standards.
