"Rick was fantastic. I called him late afternoon for a dryer repair that I've been putting off for a while I didnt need it fixed immediately and I was going out of town for the weekend. He didtn know that though, and I could tell by our conversation he would've came over as soon as he could. We set up a time for 5:00pm on the next monday, and he actually showed up 30 minutes early. He gave me a fair price and the dryer works just like new. I would definitely hire him again."

"Nothing to prevent me from asking for their help again. Gerald was very professional, no timewasting at all. As it turned out the issue I had contacted Handyman Pro about was about a delivery person who despite his advancing age, didn't seem to have a clue about plumbing and cost me a plumbing bill. I contacted Handyman Pro to check it out. The problem the delivery man was whining about, didn't exist. Fortunately Gerald was able to repair a bad faucet in a shower. Thanks again."

"I hired this company to do deck repair not knowing whether it could be repaired or needed to be totally replaced. Nick and Joseph did an amazing job in blistering heat. Both very personable and willing to answer all my questions. The owner, Mark Kowertz, was very professional and gave me options/suggestions regarding condition of my deck and what could be saved and what needed to be replaced. Very reasonable in pricing. I have already recommended them to two other folks. You would not be wrong in giving them a call. I would highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Moses came to my house to give me a quote for a leaking shower, and he ended up quoting me for two other projects I needed taken care of - flashing that needed to be replaced and patching a large hole in the ceiling. He and his helper arrived right on time the following morning and had all 3 projects completed by lunchtime. He communicated with me on everything he was doing, was very nice- and very quiet. I hardly knew he and his helper were here. I'm very pleased with his work, and the fee was less than I expected. I will definitely hire him again."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can attach a deck to a mobile home, but it’s important that the work be done correctly to avoid the potential for major damage to your home. Many building codes require that any additions to mobile homes—including decks—be either freestanding or have their own support structures. Getting permits may require submitting the home's original floor plan, the proposed floor plan, framing details, and more.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.

As with patios, there are many types of deck choices to choose from to add personalization to your home. Some common deck options include:

  • Attached decks are anchored to the home and include simple ground-level options or multi-level structures with stairways and separate landings.

  • Detached island decks are not attached to the home; they’re a freestanding structure in the yard.

  • Wraparound decks connect the back of the house with at least one other side and often are built with railings for safety.

  • Multi-level decks connect your deck through varying levels of elevation, featuring landings that are attached to stairs.

A covered deck can be a good investment that increases your home value—especially if you live in a hot region with a lot of sun. A covering over the deck means you can get more use out of it, even on the hottest summer days. With a permanent deck covering, you can even add ceiling fans to help cool down your deck for added comfort.
