One of the most significant downsides to stucco is the installation cost, which is higher than that of many other siding options because getting it to look clean and professional is a labor-intensive process. Late fall is generally the best time of year for installing stucco siding. We don’t recommend hiring a stucco pro to apply this feature when the temperatures are below freezing, so it’s best to avoid applying stucco siding to your home during the winter. However, it’s safe to apply in hot and colder temperatures, so any other time of year is suitable. The spring and summer are the busiest times of year for stucco siding professionals, so you could save money by doing the work in the off-season: the late fall.
The time required to remove stucco siding depends on the size of the home, the thickness of the stucco, and the complexity of the project. Most projects take between two and seven days, but larger or multi-story homes may require more time, especially if repairs are needed after removal is complete.
On average, EIFS costs more than traditional stucco, both due to its complex materials and tricky installation. You'll pay between $7 and $9 per square foot for traditional stucco installation and $8 to $14 per square foot for EIFS. If it is applied properly, stucco is a durable material that can last between 50 and 80 years, especially with regular repair and maintenance.
