We have been in business since 1971. We have a shop located at 9641 w87th Street, Overland Park, Ks. The shop is open 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday. Our locksmiths are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We are a family owned business, bonded, and insured. Since every request for service is different, please call and a price will be quoted. We are a "Full Service" Lock & Safe Company, established in 1969 serving the greater Kansas City, metropolitan, and surrounding areas. We provide a wide variety of Locksmith products and services for all your security needs, commercial, residential, and automotive. Our goal is to provide you with quality service at an affordable price. So we ask ourselves, how we can best serve you. For you do it yourselfers we offer a walk in shop with a knowledgeable staff that can instruct you on how to remove and bring in your lock for service. Or we can schedule a time to come to you with our fast and friendly mobile service. So if anyone has a key that shouldn’t? We can change that; we can rekey your lock to use a different key. There are at least two good reasons to do so; the first is to regain your security, and second is to protect yourself and the other person. Because you will know that they didn’t get in with the old key. Can someone open your safe as fast as you can? Let us set a new combo for you. One that’s a little easier to remember, it’s probably cheaper than you think. Or if you get tired of dialing the safe open, maybe a digital lock upgrade is in order. Are you tired of going to the bank to get in your safe deposit box? Why not keep a personal safe at home? We offer a full line of commercial and residential safes to fit most needs. Lost the keys to your car? Or did they fall into the wrong hands? We can make a new key from scratch, or if lost or stolen we can rekey your car, so the missing keys won’t work anymore. And yes even the keys with a “chip” in them. Do you have to the jiggle your key? Or pull the key out a little to work? A new copy probably won’t help much, because a copy of a worn out key is just a new worn out key. So bring it in, along with the lock if possible, and let us know the trouble that you’re having. We can decode the cuts of the old key, and cut you a new one back to the manufactures specifications. And the new key should be as good as the original one that came with the lock. How do you hide a key to your home or office outside securely? We can show you how. Or better yet, why not let us install a push button lock for you? It’s attractive and secure, and can replace your existing doorknob or deadbolt. Who needs more keys anyway? So now if the power is out when you get home, and your garage door won’t open, you’ll be able to retrieve your spare key that is securely stored. Or push in a code of your choosing, and you’re in. The good news is that, yes, you can change locks yourself. Many people find it’s an easy DIY project that requires few tools and not much expense (depending on which lock you’re installing). If you have trouble with any part of an installation, you can always call a locksmith to help finish installing them.

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

Newer, electric-powered door locks generally have a life span of five years or less. That’s thanks, in large part, to a phenomenon called planned obsolescence, in which products are programmed to need replacing after a certain amount of time. That’s also why older, manual, push-key locksets can last up to 30 years with regular cleanings and maintenance. When it does come time for a new set-up, know that the cost to change locks ranges from $130 to $500 on average.

You may be able to get a broken key out of a lock by yourself, depending on the situation. If a portion of the key is still protruding from your lock, try lubricating the keyway and using pliers or even a bobby pin to pull the key out of the hole. If you have jigsaw blades handy, you can also try using those to grab onto the stuck key and pull it out. 

But, if neither option works or you can’t reach the key, your only option is to call a locksmith for help. 

While lock crunching as a whole is not terribly common, it is one of the most frequently used means of forced entry into a home. Recent data suggests that forced entry through lock crunching or snapping occurs in more than 25% of burglaries.
