However, it’s risky because the veneers on hollow core doors are so thin that sanding and restaining might cause damage to the doors. If you do move forward with this project, sand the doors lightly with a medium-grit sandpaper.

While both sides of a front door should get painted for aesthetic reasons, you don’t have to do each side at the same time. A traditional door can typically resist fire for less than one minute, whereas fire doors can resist it for 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the fire door rating. Fire doors give you and your family a better chance of safely escaping during a fire than standard doors.
