"After having new concrete stairs installed, we had some damage to our stucco that needed repairing. We also had some bulging due to water damage behind our stucco as well. The quote to fix the entire side of our house was very reasonable, and they were up front with the possibly extra charge for materials needed to fix the underlying water damage, which only added a few hundred dollars onto our cost. They were extremely professional, communicative, and clean! The work was done in a reasonable amount of time (especially dealing with rainy weather). I highly recommend this company, I will certainly hire them in the future if we need any other work done to our stucco!"

Stucco questions, answered by experts

The best adhesive that works on stucco is usually a product specified for use on stucco or concrete surfaces. The adhesive will need to be strong to grip the stucco, but should also wipe away clean when used in a temporary application. You can also consider using super glue or hot glue on stucco.

To maintain stucco, inspect it annually for cracks and clean the surface with a mild detergent. Seal any cracks promptly to prevent water infiltration, and reseal or repaint as needed to preserve its appearance.

The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.

Choosing between traditional and synthetic stucco depends on your specific needs, budget, and climate. Both options are durable, but synthetic stucco includes an extra layer that makes it more resistant to cracking and a better choice for climates with extreme weather. In hot, dry climates with less rainfall, traditional stucco is a suitable and more affordable option that is less likely to trap moisture. Synthetic stucco also offers more color options and requires less maintenance.

If it is applied properly, stucco is a durable material that can last between 50 and 80 years, especially with regular repair and maintenance. Things like painting the stucco every 10 years or so will help it last longer. The location of your home plays a big part in the life span of your stucco, too.
