I strongly caution anyone considering Neighborhood Painting. Their Angi profile claims they "do not believe in subcontracting out any of our services," but in reality Jacob, the owner, sent subcontractors to my home who did poor quality work, skipped surface preparation and priming, left overspray, and ignored obvious wood repair needs. Their negligence caused over $13,000 in property damage, and after almost three months of back-and-forth, there is still no resolution. Instead of taking accountability, Jacob pushed responsibility onto the subcontractors and failed to honor the terms of his own contract. Based on my experience, this company is untrustworthy and unreliable.

The perk of house pointing is the aesthetic; the purpose is sealing and protecting your home. We recently moved into a house that appears to have had a number of perk paintings and knew it had some rot issues that needed attention. I am so glad I found Neighborhood Painting. I could tell from other reviews that Ryan and his team were going to be thorough and do quality work, which is what we needed. The rot issues were more extensive than we knew, but Ryan and his team were thorough, fair and great to work with. They got our home back into great shape and we will absolutely use them again in the future.

The house was both repaired and painted by Neighborhood Painting and I will them again for any paint job. As always, the job was professional and completed on time.

We moved back into my husband’s childhood home and it was overdue for some repairs and paint! We got a few estimates however Neighborhood Painting was more thorough and really explained the whole process well. We’re very happy with the time they took to do the proper repairs followed by an excellent paint job. Both the repair and paint crews were friendly and efficient.

Hired Neighborhood Painting to fix an extensive amount of exterior wood wot and full house exterior painting. From the first inspection/estimate Ryan was very knowledgeable and honest. The communication from Ryan and his team was direct, clear, and honest throughout the entire process. Even with unexpected damage and additional repairs needed Ryan walked us through every step of the way. HIGHLY recommend Neighborhood!

We had a wonderful experience with Neighborhood Painting and Restoration, Inc. The team was very professional, punctual and definitely experts of their trade. Our newly painted rooms look bright and fresh. They also repaired our bedroom ceiling and wall that had extensive water damage; you can’t tell there was ever any damage at all. It looks wonderful. I couldn’t be happier and will definitely be calling for future painting needs.

Top notch, honest professionals. We initially used Neighborhood Painting (NP) several years ago to paint our exterior house and repair some wood rot. They did a remarkable, over-the-top job and their estimate was honest and fair. Currently, we turned to NP again for a kitchen make-over. Again, from start (planning)-to-finish, they have been remarkable in their responsiveness, feedback, advice for additional contractors/services/materials if needed, etc. We trust NP completely and turned over the house to them while we left for vacation. Upon return, the thorough and meticulous workmanship was obvious to see. These guys go the extra mile to do the work right - as if it was their own home. Good luck finding a better team than NP! These guys are solid in what they say they will do and what they do. Excellent craftsmanship, they are professional and clearly take pride in their work. We especially appreciated all their advice to minor details that we did not consider in planning our project. They treat the project as if it was their own and their budget - honest and fair. Will totally use them again.

Didn't get to start until October but did excellent work

Our house exterior had multiple areas of wood rot and needed a fresh coat of paint. We hired Neighborhood Painting based on a neighbor's recommendation, and are very glad that we did. The team was unfailingly polite, responsive, communicative and prompt. They were extremely thorough in the repairs and didn't cut corners. We felt the price was fair for the quality of the work. We're planning on getting them back for some interior work in the future. Highly recommend!

We hired Neighborhood Painting to replace the siding on the front of our house and paint the exterior. We hired a cheaper painting company a few years ago that did not spend much time on prep work, and we had a lot of peeling paint and some wood rot. The Neighborhood Painting crew did an amazing job with the prep work and painting. They were very professional and thoroughly cleaned up the job site every day. I highly recommend Neighborhood Painting for their high-quality work and professionalism.

We had significant rot issues on our 30 year old house with engineered wood siding. With the labor crunch all over, it was difficult to find anybody to do repair work beyond just general contractor/handyman types, but then I contacted Neighborhood Painting & Restoration. The team came out to assess the issues, recommend solutions and provide a detailed, easy-to-understand bid. There was enough damage that I asked Neighborhood about doing a complete reside project rather than just repairing and they encouraged me not to do that and gave good explanations why. Considering that project would have been 3x as much money for them, the fact that they gave a recommendation wasn't just the most profitable for them was much appreciated and increased my trust in them. When it comes to the actual work, I loved seeing separate prep and paint crews; that made it clear they had people that really know their specific role well. They identified more issues (as I knew they would) as they got into the prep work and that was all handled appropriately and professionally. The finished product looks great and I am looking forward to not worrying about our siding for a while now. The only thing I can't really speak to is their costs vs. any other companies. Because of how hard it was to find a company even willing to bid on the work, Neighborhood was the only bid we received. My guess is they are not the cheapest option but that's not what I would want anyway. Their professionalism and the quality of the work is worth additional cost to me. Definitely give them a call with any painting/exterior work you need done!

We hired Neighborhood Painting and Restoration to screen in our front porch and paint the exterior of our 86 year old home. We could not be happier with the results! During all phases of the projects the attention to detail and pride taken in their approach blew us away. The separate crews for prep and painting makes all the difference. The talent and years of experience truly shows! We will definitely recommend Neighborhood Painting and Restoration to our friends and family and look forward to using again!

Very well- I have a LOT of landscaping and it faired quite well except for a couple of issues. That comes from some crew members that aren’t familiar with plantings.

The team did an absolutely amazing job! They got the job done quicker than I anticipated, cleaned up after themselves and were very respectful. They pay close attention to detail. This is the second job Neighborhood Painting has done for me. I will definitely be hiring them again for future jobs.

We’re thrilled with the results! Our 85-year-old house was showing it’s age. Now we have a standout in a historic district. There was extensive wood rot; now the wood has been repaired or replaced, and the seams have been caulked/sealed. The paint crew was thorough. Everyone was considerate of the plants around the foundation. There was good communication throughout the entire project. We would hire them again without hesitation!

We made a wise decision when we chose Neighborhood Painting to work on our 112-year-old house. The work of the paint crew has transformed the appearance of our house. Just as important is the work of the prep crew, who caulked everywhere, repaired dry rot, fastened down loose siding, and installed our new storm windows. It's hard to put a value on the peace of mind that delivers. We were impressed by the organizational process Neighborhood Painting uses with separate paint and prep crews. Both crews were professional, experienced, and comfortable to have around - something important when crews are at one's house for many long days. They thoroughly cleaned up the worksite, and competently dealt with working conditions that included high heat and wasps. Neighborhood Painting also gave us access to a color consultant, whom we found very helpful. And in the final walkthrough when minor issues were discovered, Neighborhood Painting immediately resolved them to our complete satisfaction. We would absolutely choose them for future projects.

Update: August 2021: Neighborhood Painting just completed round 2 of our house that included repairing several water-damaged wood rot areas, staining to match, and then applying a clear coat sealant on all exposed wood. The level of expertise and craftsmanship was amazing. They were able to problem-solve some troubled areas above our satisfaction. My comments below from last year remain the same. I will ONLY use Neighborhood Painting for all my painting needs in the future.

Great job by Neighborhood Painting in Painting the house and staining the pergola. Great process with onsite estimate (pointing out concerns), scheduling and top quality finished product. Periodic discussion with project manager and crew manager kept us informed on house issues uncovered and how they were addressed. Best guarantee on work by any of the companies we received bids from. Excellent work. The two separate crews for prepping and painting are amazing. That's a key point - two crews. One crew carefully preps your house then once complete, the paint crew arrives to thoroughly complete the job that they guarantee. I highly recommend Neighborhood Painting!

Ryan advises that he maintains two crews of actual employees (not subs) - one to do the prep work and another to do the actual painting. Both crews worked hard and the end result is entirely satisfactory. I obtained three quotes for this work and Neighborhood was the highest (by a considerable amount, in one case) but I chose Neighborhood based on Ryan's assurance that the work would be done right. It was and I have no no complaints.

5 star rating for an outstanding local company. Ryan, the owner, personally came by to estimate outdoor repairs of wood rot, damage and painting. During the estimate, he identified problems that other firms missed. Neighborhood's pricing was in the range of other bids but included more detailed work and custom building of replacement corbels which no other firm would do. The project lead for repairs and construction was thorough, communicated very well and was a true professional. The repair team included talented craftsmen who were responsive and a pleasure to work with. After a week of curing, the paint team came by and painted the entire house in 4 days. They were equally professional and competent and took real pride in their work. They too were responsive and very helpful. I enthusiastically recommend Neighborhood for house painting and repairs.

Painting interior trim

I have been a homeowner in KC for over 20 years so I have a lot of experience with local paint companies as our last home required a full paint job every 5 years. I recently moved to an older home that was in need of exterior paint updating that also has some needs for specialty wood work. I met with Ryan to review the needs of the house. He offered a clear, detailed estimate. Ryan's communication for my job was top-notch. The crew was efficient, detail-oriented, professional and courteous. They arrived and left at the same time daily and always left the property clean. Their workmanship is best I have ever had work on my home. The lead painter offered a few suggestions - that my unprofessional eye did not see - to make the project look even better. I am very happy with Neighborhood Painting Co. I highly recommend and will only use this company in the future.
