"Excellent! The Green Improvement team arrived quickly and provided a free comprehensive bid. They returned to do the work exactly when they said they would. They began with the energy audit and noted a number of areas that should be addressed. Even though they found some additional work when they got into the attic project, they completed it anyway, demonstrating their quality focus, and did not adjust the project bid/estimate. The entire team (3) was courteous, knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. With four access points to the attic areas, they worked very diligently to complete the project within one day and cleaned up behind themselves when finished. They retested after completion and found a 30% reduction in heat loss. I am having them out at a later date to spray insulation foam into some bump-out areas and along the foundation, so yes, I would definitely hire them again."

"Being new to this house, I notice the attic was lacking in insulation in many areas as the original installer of the insulation cut several corners. This fact was further accented as I wanted R60. I researched SEVERAL different companies and did not let onto my knowledge and experience of being a very handy homeowner; there is not much I cannot do around the house. Green Factor was the preferred choice even though they were not the lowest price, but they were the RIGHT choice. And yes, their pricing is very competitive. After hearing and understanding my needs, concerns and expectations, they did their analysis and provided me a list of options to consider, while also weighing in on the 'value' of each option. We agreed to have a foil-board (my verbiage, heat-cold reflective board) placed onto a knee wall while spray foaming all fan-light boxes in the attic, and ensuring all soffit baffles were clear and open. Insulation was also blowin in (fiberglass-like, not cellulose) and pictures were taken as the work progressed. This was valuable as I have a hard-to-reach cathedral ceiling area Lastly, they additionally provide a pre- and post home pressure test to understand the amount of 'sealing' was accomplished; ending pressure denoted approximately 1280 (sweet spot is 1200-1300). Their attention to detail, patience and approach is nothing but stellar, and I would hire them back in a flash. I've already recommended them to several friends and neighbors. I cannot be more satisfied or happy. If you are looking for an honest, hard working and quality installation, THIS IS THE COMPANY. THANK YOU Green Factor!"

"I took roof inspection deal ..$49 for a roof inspection by an inspector with $100 repair credit due to extreme weather, Resealing around pipe collars, exhaust fans, vents, and chimney flashings, Nailing down any loose shinglesChecking for interior leaks, Summary report with areas of concern (includes photos of areas needing repair),Professional recommendations and action plan (if necessary) . Roofer was supposed to come at 5PM, he went there at 4.25 Pm. He talked to my wife and asked whats the problem of roof and what we needed with roof. Its inspection so they should do the inspection and do as they advertised. Talked to him on phone and told him about a shingle on the backyard and told him where its gone from. He said thats the decoratve part of shingle and nothing to worry about. I asked him if he should fix it. He said no need to do it. It will damage roof more. I asked him if he is going on roof to check it. He said no need, its new roof installed in 2011 and going on roof could damage something. I don't know if that's true. Since I had seen that shingle on the ground due to recent strong winds I wanted them to check if any loose shingles and fix it. I think I wasted money by buying this deal."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Yes, with modifications or the use of adapter kits for tricky placements.

Costs depend on window size, type, material, and labor. Custom shapes or sizes typically incur higher expenses; full installation includes removing old windows.

Finding a reputable contractor for an egress window installation involves researching and vetting potential candidates. Start by searching for local professionals, reading customer reviews, and checking their websites for a portfolio of their work.

Once you have a shortlist, ask the following questions to ensure they are qualified:

• Are you licensed and insured?

• What experience do you have installing egress windows?

• Can you provide references from previous customers?

• Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors?

• What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule?

• How do you handle payment?

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.
