"He was hired to convert a brand new furnace that was natural gas over to propane. He put the wrong orifices in and burnt up the heat exchange and destroyed the furnace. We verified with another company that he did indeed install the wrong orifices that destroyed the furnace thus making the warranty for the original furnace null and void. He is not answering our calls after finding out that we wanted to be reimbursed for the new furnace that had to be purchased."

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.

According to the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), the distance between your trap and the vent should be no more than 6 feet. For your vent to work properly, it needs to feed into the drain line within 6 feet of trapways that connect to it. Using this formula, you should be able to determine whether you will need multiple vent lines.

Pipes tend to burst once frozen for 24 to 72 hours. It takes temperatures 20 degrees Fahrenheit or colder for several days to freeze and burst pipes, rather than a day or two with temperatures hovering around freezing. When temperatures are dropping, it’s time to drip faucets and open cupboard doors that house pipes to circulate heated air.

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.
