My name is Bobby Crawford, aka The Granite Guy. I’ve worked with custom stone products since 1996, beginning in Naples, Florida. I now reside in and work out of Fredericktown, Missouri. I’ve worked exclusively with stone since I built my first company in Southwest Florida – BC Stoneworks, Inc. (1999-2004). When I started my second company, Solid Rock Stoneworks Inc. (2006-2008), I was running three install crews with ten fulltime employees before the business came to a premature end when the economy collapsed. I’ve no desire to revisit that kind of stress, so I now specialize in installing custom stone products by myself. I enjoy making the dream of having gorgeous kitchen counters or bathroom vanities a reality for customers who’ve worked hard to own them, and I take care to ensure that every tiny detail is as perfect as possible. My seams are what most customers are amazed at, and I can receive no better compliment than when a client cannot even find them. A little-known fact that big granite retailers worry the public will discover is that anyone can now buy pre-fabricated 8’ x 26” slabs of granite and quartz with a finished edge on three sides and a 4” backsplash for under $250 at Menards and a few other home-improvement stores. This is how I can get you into a $4,000 kitchen for $2,500. I also work with several wholesale granite and quartz companies, so I know who’s buying – and in what in bulk – and I can also use this knowledge to get you the best possible price/quality combination. I cut-to-size, seam, and polish to create a professionally installed custom kitchen, vanity, fireplace, or tub-deck that will be the envy of your guests – in fact, the bulk of my work is garnered from the referrals of satisfied customers. Thanks, and I look forward to serving you.

We are a masonry company that has serviced the Vernon and surrounding counties in Southwest Missouri for over 25 years. My name is Caleb mason , my Brother Marc and I are second generation bricklayers who's Father instilled in us an extreme amount of pride and integrity. It's not only our job its our name.

"Very Unprofessional and terrible to work with. I have been dealing with this company for 6 months. They were bricking my house so slowly that many people thought I was bricking the house myself in my spare time. Workmanship details are terrible. Many of the walls didnt even get proper through wall flashing, several walls with no weep holes or flashing. They stated they were finished and I paid them in full after giving the house a once over. They stated " we take pride in our work and let us know if theres anything we missed and we will come take care if it" I am now finding more and more issues that were said to have been completed and they wont return my calls or messages. Not to mention the job ended taking just over 6 months to brick my house and costed 4-5k more than the contract. Towards the end they were actually using bricks from a previous job that weren't even the correct color. Beware! Learn from my mistakes and do not hire"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Certified fire door inspectors should inspect fire doors. These professionals receive training to specifically assess the condition, functionality, and compliance of fire doors. They often hold credentials from groups like the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) or the International Fire Door Inspector Association (IFDIA). While fire marshals won’t usually do hands-on inspections, they’ll check that doors are being maintained properly during routine safety audits. If a building relies on fire doors for code compliance, it needs someone who understands the details—the difference between a cosmetic issue and a safety failure—and standards to sign off with confidence.

If you intend to do the majority of the work yourself, you can pay to hire an architect or a structural engineer to ensure your home remains structurally sound. They can help with the planning to make sure everything is up to code and safe for your family. On the other hand, if you’re not sure your home will be completely safe when you’ve completed the project, let a pro do the job.

The short answer is yes. Room additions almost always increase a home's value. But just how much they increase it varies by the materials you choose, the type of room you build, and other factors. For instance, adding a sunroom will yield you a 49% return on your investment, while adding a primary suite results in a 63% return on your investment.

Any unexplained smell in your house should be investigated. However, some home odors are "red flag" worrisome because they pose immediate health and safety risks. Odors should be taken seriously when accompanied by headaches, nausea, or lightheadedness. If you smell an egg-like aroma, this is probably natural gas. You should leave the home immediately, and  contact your gas company.

By nature, two-prong outlets aren't grounded—but the box they run to might be, which makes them safer. The safest way to test if an outlet is grounded is to purchase a circuit tester, which cost about $20 at home improvement stores.

If you discover your outlet (or outlets) aren't grounded, know that this greatly increases your risk of personal injury and electrical fires. You may want to consider installing new three-prong ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. On average, the cost to install GFCI outlets is about $210 per outlet.
