"Michael, Tommy & Aiden did a fantastic job removing our separate shower and bathtub and converting the tub space into a walk in shower. The guys were respectful, and helpful with any questions we had. They kept us informed with each step of the way. They cleaned up before the job was over and went over instructions. Highly recommend Jaccuzizi and this crew."

"This is the second time we’ve hired GA Chott during the past 10+ years. We hired Darryll and Angie and team to build out a bathroom from scratch (no plumbing) in our upstairs attic space, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. This was a large, 8-week project. We did our homework and acquired several bids. GA Chott wasn’t the cheapest (or the most expensive), but they were clearly the best choice. We give our highest recommendation. You’ll be pleased with both the quality of the work and how it’s handled throughout the process."

Customers say: Quick response

"Romine Contracting did a fantastic job on our bathroom. We had a leaky shower, so decided it was time to update our master bathroom. They brought our vision to life. The shower is beautiful, bathtub luxurious, and tile work is absolutely stunning. They obviously take a lot of pride in their work. We are so glad we found them to do our bathroom remodel."

"In 2014, Al Birkenmeier and his team helped us to remodel and update many features of our home in Kirkwood. It was a very big project, long overdue, and we were very pleased with the results. They did excellent, high quality work, communicated very well throughout the whole project and were honest and reliable. Since that time, we have occasionally noticed a problem with leakage around a new bay window, which was installed during the renovations. Al visited our home several times and did a number of repairs over the intervening years (to the caulking and siding) to try to prevent any further rain and water from getting in. He also had his crew refinish (sanding and painting) a window seat, which was warped due to the dampness. These efforts seemed to stop leaks for a while, but they were not a permanent solution. So Al contacted the window manufacturer and after many attempts was able to convince them that the window itself had been faulty and was leaking. The supplier agreed to replace the window, but we had to pay for the removal and installation of the new window. Al, despite a very busy schedule with much bigger projects, assigned crew to do this work for us immediately after the new window arrived from the supplier and he came by himself several times to make sure that the work was done well. We are happy to say that the new window is not leaking and things are looking very good and dry. We are writing now to bring this commitment and follow through, even long after the initial project, to the attention of potential new clients. Al did not leave us in the lurch when we had problems, even though it was a minor and not very interesting project to fix a leaking window. He is committed to his customers from the first day, until the job is completed to everyone’s satisfaction. This is a very valuable trait and one that makes us trust him and highly recommend him for any home repairs or remodeling. Thanks to Al and his colleagues for sticking with us, even many years later, and making sure that we have the quality of work and satisfaction that we need."

"It went perfect. Gary and his crew are our go to contractors for everything. They have done work on our house and landscape many times. I would trust them with everything. My kitchen pipe under the sink rusted out on New Years Eve one time. I called Gary and he was at our house and went to Home Depot just before it closed, for the parts and fixed it that night. Best Contractor ever. Very helpful and knowledgeable."

"Great presentation by Nick. Very nice, informative, professional and knowledgeable. Super quality products and vert6competitive pricing. Because of very busy installation schedules, it will take 4-6 weeks before walkin shower remodel can happen. We can wait, no problem. It will be worth it."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Costs vary by materials used, surface size, and complexity. Refacing can be cost-effective compared to full replacements, with an average range between $300 and $1,200.

A peeling bathtub is not a good thing. It’s a sign that the finish is coming off, and continued exposure to water and cleaning products can continue to damage the finish and eventually the underlying structure of the tub. What starts as a few chips or flakes can worsen into large chunks peeling off.

Acrylic tubs can fade or turn yellow over time due to thick layers of accumulated dirt, hard water deposits from minerals, and shampoo or soap dyes. Also, as an acrylic tub ages, it may become dull or change color due to changes in the acrylic itself.

If your Corian® countertop begins to appear dull or dirty, or you notice scratches on the surface, you can return it to its original finish while maintaining its look. To do this, repair any scratches with a repair compound and sand the surface after it dries.

Then, use an orbital sander with either a 100-, 30-, or 15-micron disc and finish with a hand pad (like Scotch-Brite™ 7447 or 7448) or lamb’s wool bonnet and automotive cutting compound for a matte, semi-gloss, or gloss-finish, respectively.

There are a few signs, both obvious and not so obvious, that it's time to refinish your bathtub. While some of these signs aren't an urgent problem, others could lead to significant damage if left untreated. Signs you should look out for include:

  • Rust stains, which signal the tub's enamel or surface sealer is deteriorating

  • Small chips, which can grow into larger chunks and can lead to rusting

  • Discoloration, which doesn't lead to a more significant problem but can be unsightly

  • Dirty surfaces, which means that the tub glaze is breaking down and allowing dirt to seep below the coating
