"I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Freeze protection for plumbing is highly sensitive to shortcuts. The cold winters in MO cause repeated freeze-thaw stress, making proper pipe insulation and heat tape installation critical to prevent burst pipes. Septic system drain lines also require precise slopes to prevent chronic backups. Furthermore, improper water heater installation in hard water conditions accelerates sediment buildup, which significantly shortens the life of your equipment.

Helpful?

Always hire a licensed contractor with documented experience in private well pumps and septic-connected plumbing. Since many rural MO properties utilize these systems, specialized expertise is essential. Ask the contractor to confirm they will pull all required permits for your project. Verify that the professional carries general liability insurance and workers' compensation. Finally, ask your neighbors for local references to ensure the contractor has a strong community reputation.

Helpful?

Start your fall plumbing routine by disconnecting outdoor hose bibs and adding insulation to pipes in unheated areas before the first Mansfield freeze. In winter, open cabinet doors and allow a slow drip from faucets on vulnerable exterior walls. During spring, inspect underground lines for frost heave damage and test your well water. Summer is the ideal season to schedule major projects and monitor your well pump for pressure fluctuations.

Helpful?

Secure all crawl space hatches and septic tank lids after any plumbing work to protect children and pets from fall hazards. If your Mansfield home relies on a private well, shock-chlorinate and retest the water following any pump repairs. Install anti-scald mixing valves in showers and set your water heater to a maximum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Always flush your lines thoroughly after soldering copper pipes to remove chemical residue.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing work, account for the rocky soil in the Ozarks, which makes trenching for underground pipes difficult. Many properties outside Mansfield city limits rely on private wells and septic systems rather than municipal connections. Well water drawn from karst limestone aquifers introduces hard minerals, requiring extra attention to water quality. Always plan for extra material delivery time, as the nearest large supply houses are located miles away.
