"Excellent! Frazer's Tree Service was doing some work in my neighborhood Thursday. Spouse and I had been talking about getting a tree removed for some time, so I went over to get a phone number. The owner (Charles) walked back with me to look at the problem tree and gave me an estimate on the spot. He said if it wasn't raining, he could work me in today (Saturday). He showed up promptly at 9:00 this morning with a crew of four and had everything down, chipped, picked up, and loaded before 11:00. Clean up was outstanding and he was very protective of the lawn (they carried the tree parts to the fence and threw them over rather than driving in the yard). He even blew out the chain saw chips that had fallen at the base of the tree. He said it was an easy job because he could fell the tree all at once rather than having to take it down a piece at a time. He did so well, I'm having him bid another larger (and more complicated) job Monday in Maryville, MO. If we can come to terms on that one, I'll let you know how it goes."

"Excellent job! On time, on budget and professional team. They did both tree removal and trimming for me. They also took down a GIANT tree for my neighbors. We were all impressed! We’ll be calling again for future needs"

"I had a large dangerous tree that was cracked all the way around and was ready to fall at any moment. I contacted Auston with O'Leary General Contracting and they were here within the hour. They took down the tree, cut it up and hauled limbs to a burn pile for me. Austin was very professional and instantly made me feel at ease. I would use this company again and would highly recommend them."

"To me getting rid of the trees was a huge mountain physically and it seemed financially. Hills Tree Service. I check with other’s services but they said they wanted my business and made it affordable for me to get the critical work completed. They are very meticulously, diligent and professional in their work and communication."

"They were very quick, they called me on Sunday and were here Sunday night to give me an estimate and came to cut my tree down and trim my other trees on Monday morning. They didnâ t damage my yard at all and they were very tidy. They picked up everything they cut down and even some things that were already on my roof and hauled it off. The owner worked with me personally and was very personable and their pricing beat everyone else I talked to. I would recommend them to any and everyone that needs a tree cut down or tree trimming. They were also considerate of all my property including my car, making sure I moved it out of the way before they did any cutting so as to not damage it. 10/10 will definitely be using them next time I need my trees dealt with."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.
