Small jobs welcome

"It was my pleasure to work with Tyler Asbury. I was impressed with his intelligence and professionalism. I have an old 1934 farmhouse that requires knowledge of how to work with 'old century' systems. Tyler did a great job rewiring the electrical cords, relocating light fixtures, and repairing the old window frame. He saved me a significant amount of money by suggesting and installing a metal structure on the external door for security purposes, rather than purchasing a new one. I am happy with the outcomes of his work. He is dependable, and his service is reasonably priced. I am going to hire him for my future projects and recommend Taylor to other Angie's clients."

"Handyman Construction did an amazing job removing an old damaged fence and installing a new fence on our 1/2 acre lot. Communication was excellent. Even 2000 miles away we felt like we knew exactly what was going on at all times. "We hired Logan to first install our plank flooring. He did an amazing job. We went on to hire him for carpet and tile work for our tub surround and walk-in shower. He is a fantastic communicator who shows up when he says heâ s going to be there, gets the job done in the agreed-upon timeline and his pricing is spot on for the quality work that he does. We will definitely be using him for future projects and would highly recommend him."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, an electrical fire can start even if nothing is plugged into an outlet. While a correctly functioning outlet poses no risk, a fire can be caused by faulty wiring, damaged outlet components, an overloaded circuit, or other electrical problems hidden behind the walls. If you suspect a fault, immediately turn off the circuit breaker and contact a professional electrician to diagnose and repair the issue.

Bioethanol fireplaces are safe when users follow the instructions and maintain the fireplace. Ethanol is flammable, however, and should be kept away from flammable surfaces, children, and pets.

There are several tools available to help prevent electrical fires. First, ensure that you have GFCI outlets installed in necessary areas, along with an AFCI, which is a circuit breaker that can help prevent arc-faults. Investing in surge protectors is also wise, as they can safeguard your appliances and other items against power surges that may overload your outlet and cause sparking.

A spark arrestor is not the same as a chimney cap. Both sit on the top of the chimney. However, the cap keeps debris from entering the chimney, and the spark arrestor’s primary function is to prevent burning embers from escaping. Some spark arrestors are integrated into the chimney cap, and others are installed separately.

No. Removing the cause of concern will only lead to deeper concern. You cannot use any fire-powered appliance like a fireplace or furnace without an escape route for the smoke and fumes. If you remove the flue intending to repair or replace it, you should only use the fireplace, wood stove, or furnace once the flue is in working order. If you cannot replace the flue you have removed, call a chimney repair professional immediately.
