Small jobs welcome

"The did a new install in part of the basement and a repair in another part, MUCH better job than the first person we hired! Did exactly what they said and then some. Would strongly recommend them! Both Rod and Jill were super easy to deal with. Don't hesitate to hire them!"

"George was in constant contact and let us know when to expect things to be complete. I got 3 other quotes to do my drywall and McPherson Drywall was a good deal lower than the other bids and the quality was great."

"The team did great both waterproofing the exterior of our basement wall as well as regrading the exterior landscaping to assure better drainage away from the house. Billy and his team were punctual, always polite, and quick to respond. They took extra care to make sure nearby landscaping stayed in tact - something small that made a big difference once all was said and done. They were transparent if any issues arose and took care of things quickly. Very happy with the whole experience."

"Alvin was a big help during the transition phase of my new home. I am a first time home owner and he consulted with his opinion utilizing his professional experience so that I could explore my options-which I am grateful for. He gave me an estimated time of finish and even worked early/late to ensure that he kept to his promise. He was very respectful of my home and made sure that he cleaned up after himself and put things back where they were- he was cautious and didn't hesitate to ask questions if he wanted to verify something. He took the time to point out the flaws that the previous owners had made and was sure to show me the results that he was able to provide in the end- which were amazing. He corrected wall and paint errors and said that if I something I feel I need fixed- to give him a call and he would be willing to correct to my satisfaction. I am very satisfied with my results and would hire A.W Painting LLC again or recommend him to my family and friends. I plan to have the exterior painted next summer and I will be contacting A.W Painting LLC again!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

If you’re installing new drywall, you may need to skim coat the drywall first for a smooth finish and to allow the primer to adhere to the wall. It’s only necessary if there are imperfections in your drywall due to issues with the studs or improper drywall installation. If you’re refreshing existing walls, you may want to skim coat if there are imperfections across the wall. As an alternative, you can repair your drywall and sand it for a smooth finish before painting.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

If you only have tiny holes in your drywall (for example, dents or nail marks), you probably won’t need a patch kit. Instead, you can plug the hole with a small amount of spackle. Once the spackle dries, you can sand the area and paint over it—just like you would in the steps outlined above.

While fumigation chemicals cannot pass through solid objects, they will seep into any openings in walls, doors, or other closed spaces. This allows them to get into tight places where pests may be hiding and causing damage, like termites ruining the foundation of your home. It also means that your home needs to ventilate for 48 hours before returning to ensure that no harmful chemicals remain in your space.
