"Tracy repaired several wall cracks in my home. He did excellent work, and he finished the job in just a few consecutive days. He is great at communicating, and we would definitely call him again for wall-fixing work!"

"Greg is an amazing, fast, and hard worker. He replied to my request for service promptly, scheduled me at a time convenient for my schedule, came in and assessed the problem, and gave me a fair and accurate estimate of time and cost before setting to work. I had accidentally slipped and put my back through a wall, and it was a sizable patch, but Greg set to work and had it repaired well within his estimate, had everything cleaned up, and was on his way with a good looking patch done and sanded and ready for painting. No hidden surprises or unnecessary breaks during the work, no sudden fees, and he was great to talk to as well while we waited for the coats to dry! I cannot recommend this service enough. Greg is worth the hire for a great experience and fantastic results at a fair and reasonable price. Thanks Greg!!"

"The people were respectful and nice, but some mistakes were made in the initial bidding, and some of the work early on caused more costly repairs to be needed. I had to have workers and sales representative come back out on a different day to complete the job. I also had to agree to loosing some warranties and guarantees of work holding up over time and/or fixing the initial leak issue unless I agreed to pay double the planned costs to complete the project.properly. The solution recommended to us seems to he helping so far, but isn't very asthectucaly pleasing on the our front porch of our home. Also workers posted out a trip hazard on out sidewalk due to land settlement and I even mentioned it to our sales representative. Surprisingly he didn't offer fixing it or selling me options for fixing it. I found this very odd since it's one.of their companies biggest selling/marketing campaigns?"

Small jobs welcome

"The owner, Steven, is first rate! He was professional from beginning to end, and his work did not disappoint in the slightest. He delivered on everything he promised, he was punctual, and he was delightful to deal with. He cleaned up after himself beautifully, and I was very happy with the results of my interior paint job. I would hire him all over again when the need arises!"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, a retaining wall should be between 3 and 4 feet high, depending on variables such as the wall-building material, the purpose of the retaining wall, and more. If you want your retaining wall to be taller than 4 feet, check with your local building ordinance office for the maximum allotment. You may also need a special permit for retaining walls over 4 feet tall.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
