The cost was very reasonable. He never pressured us to buy a new window which would have cost much more. "I started looking for remodeling companies at the remodeling show several months before I met with companies to discuss price, etc. Frankly, I walked past the Young Remodeling booth because it was so beautiful that I assumed it would be too expensive. However, after checking the ratings on Angie's List, I decided to get a bid from Young. They were the fourth of four contractors I to bid on the job. When I got their bid, I told Randy that they came in 2-3 thousand higher than anyone else. The net day, he called me back and said that the owner, Paul Young would like to meet with me. Paul and Randy came out and looked at the bathroom. Then Paul and I discussed what I envisioned for the bathroom. He said that they could come very close to what the others had bid. Later, when I was discussing the options with my husband, I realized that Young was the only company that was going to take out all of the walls, floor, and ceiling, not just those in the tub/shower area. With the other contractors, I was going to have to remove the wallpaper myself. The folks at Young told me not to bother removing the wallpaper since they would be tearing out the walls and using waterproof backer board throughout the entire bathroom. They also were the only ones to bid a new window rather than re-use the old one. In addition, the other contractors said it would be a problem to move the toilet, but Young suggested we move it in order to increase the size of the shower. They told me that moving the stool was no problem at all. In addition to all of the above, Paul Young held my hand through the entire process. He gave me sound design advice, then went with me to pick out everything. He even told me when items I chose would exceed my budget. When I chose a counter top and shower door that would increase the cost, he asked me several times if I was sure I wanted to incur the increased cost. He held my deposit check until he felt certain that I was certain about the increase. I appreciated his concern and patience. The project took a little longer than anticipated, but that was because I pushed them to start sooner than planned and therefore, the custom items weren't quite ready. It was well worth the wait. The quality of the work done in the bathroom is phenomenal. The tile work is gorgeous, and the custom vanity exceeded expectations. When I changed my mind in mid project about the placement of the grab bars which had already been installed, it was no big deal to them even though the change required extra sheet rock work. I added a minor change to the project which also increased the total cost. The addition was to install a comfort height toilet and grab bars in my 1/2 bath on the main level of the house. Now both of the bathrooms my mother uses are safe as well as beautiful.

"I am very lucky that I found Vantage Point Exteriors. They helped me deal with an emergency problem very quickly.
I inadvertently locked myself out on the balcony of my condo two days ago without a cell phone or keys. Unfortunately I had to kick in the glass to get back inside. I needed to get this glass replaced ASAP. After a frustrating experience talking with a few other contractors in the area, I bought an Angie's List account and found Vantage Point.
Matt was quick to respond, and communicated very well throughout the process. The two gentlemen who came out to perform the work were very professional, and even cleaned up several areas of broken glass that I had missed. They worked very quickly and efficiently to replace the glass, and their workmanship was top notch. I also had them replace the door handle, so I can't get locked out again.

"I had gutter failure from huge storm in KC area last weekend, which caused water to pool in front of a basement window well and led to my basement flooding. I tried calling many other gutter companies, but they all were 2-3 weeks or 2-3 months booked out. the owner of 5 Star construction came out to give a bid, and immediately said that he would take one of is crews off another project to immediately address put up the new gutters so as to avoid further flooding into my basement. He said my situation was way more urgent than his other customers. He had a crew out the very next day to put up the new 6" gutters with splash guards, and addressing some of the other minor siding repairs."

"It was not a quick process because of the water damage and waiting on the cabinets we picked out to ship but overall it was a great experience. Brian, Carlos & Joe were the main workers we had at the house - they were respectable, polite, and very informative - making sure we understood each step of the process. Brian started with the dirty work of removing the water damage, repairing drywall, replacing subfloors, installing laminate plank flooring, adding can lights, and fixing our lose electrical boxes. The cabinets we picked had to be assembled which took a day of work and then Carlos stepped in to complete the cabinets, build our countertops, install baseboards, add hardware, and basically put everything in place. Joe did an amazing job on our tile, AMAZING! We picked a hand sculpted glass tile that was a bit more tedious than we expected but Joe worked his magic and really made the kitchen, the tile is everything I hoped it would be and more - it's the focal point and looks fabulous. Brian helped to finish up the plumbing to get us back in business and Carlos has been worked to wrap up the little details and honey do list of things that needed completed to give our kitchen the finished touch. Everything turned out so well - we did not replace a set of upper cabinets to open the space more and added in a pantry - both Doug's ideas, we are so glad we listened because it changed the whole dynamic of our home. We also went with another of Doug's ideas and added in a breakfast bar which we are loving.
Doug was on top of the project the whole time, keeping us updated and checking in nearly daily. We liked that he let his workers be in charge of the day to day activity though, it made things flow well and allowed us the ability to schedule the next steps with them directly, which worked well with our schedule. Not having done anything like this before was scary but we felt confident in Doug and trusted his word and he proved that he knows what he is doing!
The only real issue we had was with 2 contractors who said they came to our home to work but never showed up, that was an extremely frustrating situation and we thought it would set us back even farther in the time line but Doug stepped up and sent others out right away. It was a frustrating situation for him too but he made it right and got things rolling in the midst of it all. We were very appreciative of his extra effort, especially in a situation that was out of his control. 
We have recommended Leawood Kitchen and Bath to many already and will continue to do so - we will also be using them again in the future as we do more home upgrades. The pricing was fair and below cost for the other estimates we got and the work is quality! Doug's honesty and ideas were a breath of fresh air for us in our messy kitchen, which is now our favorite room in the house!!!"

"One thing Shawn arranges for is to have a lady come in and clean/dust everything after they are done with dry wall sanding and such. That was a nice bonus.  He also found a spectacular carpet cleaner guy to get out stains and wax tracked in on carpeting. Carpet still looks great!

Shawn has a helper named Mike, and Mike is a hard worker. Mike shows up on time, and works as long as he has to without complaining. Shawn does have sub contractors for dry wall and painting.  His painter (Melbin) does an awesome job, but some of the guys that help Melbin are rather sloppy, leaving paint in sinks and splatters on counters.  Shawn made sure it was all taken care of later on though.  Shawn's dry wall guy (Carlos) knows how to get the job done pretty well, but wasn't very conscientious about making sure surfaces were protected (like floors, carpets, etc) from the dry wall compound, and he dumped the waste down in the street sewer- a big "no-no."
  I agree with another reviewer that stated Shawn seems to have a lot of things suddenly "come up" and seems to have too many "irons in the fire." There were several times when Shawn didn't show up when he said he would. Sometimes we would be contacted as to why, other times not.  I think this is common among contractors, unfortunately. They seem to have a whole different concept of time.
