"Fred, of Thinktank, is an excellent person. He is bright, confident and concise. He is timely. Keeps the work area clean. Explains on the what and the how. He understands a budget; Never pressure me to go above what I want to spend. In fact, if the job can be done in an easier cost effective way, Fred will tell me so. Fred get a five star from me. "JNM home improvements far exceeded our expectations. Jesse Delarosa the owner and his team were very professional and responsive to all of our needs. Jesse was quick to respond to give us a bid. We received the estimate the very same day. JNM home improvements replaced our rotting 25 year-old cedar deck with a white pvc contempera rails with black balusters and new pressure treated wood decking to be stained later. Giving our home a contemporary look and a “wow” factor. I just love it, so pleased with the outcome. No surprises at the end we came in on budget. Jesse finished the job quickly and left the site clean and tidy. Jesse and his team are hard working and honest men. I would recommend JNM home improvements for all my home improvement needs. I look forward to using them again in the future."

"I recently hired First Line Wash Co. to power wash and seal my back walkway, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From the initial quote with Andre to the final walkthrough, everything was professional, timely, and well-executed. Andre arrived right on schedule and wasted no time getting to work. He took great care to prep the area and explained exactly what he would be doing. The power washing itself was thorough—years of grime and buildup were gone in no time, and the walkway looked brand new. After cleaning, he applied a high-quality sealant that brought out the natural color of the stone and will help protect it for seasons to come. He even gave me tips on how to maintain the walkway between services. If you're looking for reliable, professional, and detail-oriented service, I highly recommend Andre and First Line Wash Co.. They exceeded my expectations and made my outdoor space look fantastic!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

Any wood deck provides some ventilation to the area below, as is the nature of that type of deck design. However, areas that experience excessive humidity and associated moisture benefit greatly from a dedicated ventilation system in the form of strip vents. This addition helps the various wood boards contract and expand evenly throughout the years and reduces the chances of twisting, warping, and buckling.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

Yes. Freestanding or floating decks are exactly what the name implies—structures with their own support beams. You can build a deck yourself and place it next to a house for the illusion of a connected deck without the hassle. Or you can construct it in a separate part of your yard for a dedicated outdoor entertainment space. For the purpose of removing a freestanding deck, the steps are the same as an attached deck, but you don’t have to cut the deck away from the home.

Finding a reputable deck builder should start with speaking with a local company and asking for samples of past work and references. You can review the company’s workmanship and speak with past customers to learn what the customer service was like throughout the process. It’s also a good idea to read online reviews and check the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website to see if the company has a history of customer complaints. If you can get a referral from a family member or friend, that’s another great option.
