"David, Chris, Bo and Zack did an amazing job on painting our lower level. They split up the work getting the trim and walls prepped and painted over 5 days. David imparted tips on how to deal with scrapes and marks, as well as how to paint doors. They vacuumed when done and removed all they had brought in. We would highly recommend them for a class A job, no doubt!"

"Josh did some custom carpentry work for us, as well as some very technically challenging steel tapping for a circular jig attached to a motor. He did a fantastic job. The steel tapping was something I had basically given up on ever fixing, but he was able to do it!"

"Tom Duggan refers to himself as a craftsman, and the word describes him most accurately. He does meticulous and beautiful work. Every area he painted looks fantastic and--to me--flawless. He sets high standards for himself and delivers quality workmanship. In addition, he made a point of cleaning up each area carefully, asking me if I saw anything he might have missed. I could not be happier with Tom's work. I am also very pleased with his professionalism. His job was to help me get my house ready to be put on the market. He discussed options with me for each area that needed to be painted and gave me a reasonable bid for the work immediately. During the job, he was very helpful, gave me advice, and worked carefully and efficiently. He kept me informed of his plans for each day and called me to let me know if he was going to be late. He told me in advance exactly when and how much he needed to be paid, so I was never left in the dark. His manner was always courteous, pleasant, and professional. I can recommend Tom Duggan very highly; in fact, I would call on him again myself without any hesitation if I needed more painting done."

"I hired another company only because they offered plumbing services that I needed done in addition to the painting job. However, the professionalism of Chad, the estimator, was very impressive, as was his presentation of their services and his expertise and suggestions on the best paint products. In addition, I was impressed with the company policy of background checks, uniform policy for employees and their level of liability coverage to protect homeowners. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future and recommend their services."

Interior Painting FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, a magic eraser can remove candle wax. You can use it to remove all the candle wax from start to finish. Another option is to remove all large clumps with a dull knife and then pull out your magic eraser to finish the job. However, while the results can be impressive, a magic eraser shouldn’t be used on all surfaces since it can potentially damage them. If you try this method, test a small, hidden spot first and proceed cautiously.

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

Linoleum adhesive is quite stubborn, so you may have to try several different methods for removal. You can start with a wallpaper steamer and steam it off or add laundry detergent to water and let it soak into the adhesive. You can try paint thinner directly on the adhesive for about 10 minutes and then wipe away.
