"Mr. Van Cleave gave us an estimate and an approximate time they could do the job. We told him we were in no big hurry just wanted them to not jump from one job to another. We had to wait a few weeks longer than we expected due to the extreme heat. Once they started they did the job completely. The deck was absolutely gorgeous and much nicer than we had expected. The steps leading down were wide with hand rails on both sides. The pergola they added for shade IS BEAUTIFUL. We are more than pleased with the work and plan on using them on several more projects in the future. This is a contractor who is on site and working. We were concerned when they found damage on the siding when the old deck was removed and how much the repair would add to the cost of an already tight budget but Mr. VanCleave and his worker were able to make the needed repairs. We asked if they needed to check further down behind the older siding for any additional damage. They could have said they needed to do more and inflated the cost but they didn`t. That tells me a lot about their honesty and integrity. I would highly recommend them. "

If the fence is on one neighbor’s property, that person is responsible for repairs, regardless of who benefits from the fence more. The other neighbor must keep trees and other obstacles from crossing the property line and affecting the fence. If the fence is directly on the property line, though, who owns a shared fence? Many states have laws that address this issue. Typically, the two property owners would share responsibilities and costs for fence maintenance and repair. You may need a property line survey to precisely determine ownership and responsibility.
The lifespan of a fence can range from 5 to 50 years, depending heavily on the material, local climate, and how well it is maintained. For example, a wooden fence might last 7 to 15 years, while a vinyl fence typically lasts 20 to 30 years. Metal, composite, and glass fences have some of the longest lifespans. Proper maintenance, such as regular cleaning, inspections, and staining or sealing for wood, is key to extending the life of any fence material. Vinyl and composite are durable options that don't require sealing.
Options include ornamental designs, custom gates, and various finishes. Consult with your installer for customization.
A barbed wire fence will last an average of 15 to 20 years, but the life expectancy can range anywhere between five and 50 years. Thicker wires last longer, as do fences made with galvanized metal. If the barbed wire fence is in a climate with harsh winters and summers, it likely won’t last more than 10 to 15 years. Failing to keep up with maintenance and repairs will also shorten the lifespan of a barbed wire fence.
Yes, you can expect your composite fencing to fade quickly during the first six months. This happens naturally because the wood oils in the fencing material, called tannins, bleed out. Because of this, it can help to get a color chart from your fence company, which should show you the color of your fence before and after it fades.
