"Its been six months since Aquarius Home Services installed our water softening and reverse osmosis sytems. We love having soft water for washing and bathing and knowing that our drinking water is safe to drink. As part the followup purchase contract Aquarius provides, today our technician, Nick Knapper, tested all the equipment to ensure everything was running properly. He answered all my questions, changed filters, filled the salt tank, and left additional salt. I couldn't have asked for more prompt, courteous, and reliable service. Thank you, Nick and Aquarius Home Services!"

"I called midmorning and by noon they had been here done the work and left.Just out of nowhere the plug in for both my water heater and softener stopped working. When I called they said by 1p to 3p they would have someone here but by 11a they called and said someone was on his way.It took him awhile to trace down our wiring system but by noon it was working and he was done.Service was fast and efficient.Dave had a great personality and was efficient. Will use them again for sure.

"I purchased the Angie's List $99 faucet install deal.  Vincent replied to the email within 24 hours.  I set up the appointment for less than a week later.  He ran a little late on a previous appointment and got caught in traffic, but the job was completed by the end of the business day.  The new faucet works great.  Vincent installed as described and did a good job.  I would use him again.  Thanks!

"I called because a toilet that is seldom used in the extra bathroom did not refill after flushing to freshen the water. The person who answered my phone call, the receptionist who I talked to the next day and the plumber who responded were all very friendly and professional. The plumber explained to me why the toilet did not refill because of water deposits and was now o.k. He tested it many times to make sure it was working properly. Then, I asked him to check out the other toilet because it would start filling with water at all times. He replaced the ??? (I can't read his handwriting) and tested it many times to make sure it was now working properly. He also tightened a faucet handle on the sink. This was the day after a huge snow storm and he took the time to help my neighbor whose car was stuck in the snow. I had a lot of snow in front of my garage door and he then waited and watched to make sure that I got out to the road o.k. I will definitely call them again and would highly recommend this company."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

Yes, you can have both a water softener and a water filter. In fact, some manufacturers sell dual water softening and filtration systems that treat hard water and provide clean drinking water. If you’re unsure about what you need or want to discuss your options, reach out to a local water softener installation company.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

You should not use a water conditioner with a water softener because a water conditioner changes the chemistry of the water and causes the ion exchange in a softener to be ineffective. Choose a water softener if you have hard water or well water, and use a water conditioner if you need to remove certain contaminants.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.
