"In 2013 we started investigating the replacement of our water heater. It was 20 years old but it was not having problems (yet). We wanted to try to avoid having a hot water problem in the future so we started the replacement investigation process. I called several contractors and got competitive bids but decided to put it off until 2014. Late this winter (20140 ) I noticed water on top of the water heater with some dripping down the side so we knew our time with this water heater was about up. I called John at Northern Plumbing again. He remembered our conversation the previous year. He was near us, very straight forward, and he made me comfortable with his experience level and confidence in phone conversations. He answered all my questions and he quoted the same price again for removal an replacement. We agreed on a date to do the job. Without prompting John promised that we would have hot water from the new hot water heater on the replacement date. This was expected but reassuring to hear. Chuck was the plumber assigned to the job, He came out to inspect the area in the basement where the work needed to be done. He addressed my questions and issues regarding access and removal of the old water heater. Chuck determined the job would require a new water shut off valve, an upgraded gas valve to meet building code, and required disconnecting existing furnace gas line to allow for removal of the existing heater. He quoted an additional $150 for these items. Chuck needed to leave to get the new water heater from the supplier since my unit had to be used for a previous job. Chuck returned shortly and started to work. He removed his boots on many trips in and out and protected the carpets with tarps when removing the old water heater. The work went well and the workmanship was excellent. He got the job done start to finish in about 4 hours. As John promised we had hot water again that evening. The new water heater continues to work great. I would recommend Northern Plumbing in the future for similar work. I received the City Inspection paper work yesterday so all I have to do is schedule the city to come out and inspect the work and this job will be finished. Overall it was great working with these guys!!!

"We hired Tom Sirek and his hard-working team to fix a recurring problem with a large sinkhole in our front yard. They also completed reconstructed our retaining wall and front steps. We had previously hired a different business to repair the hole, but their repairs were ineffective and had to be totally redone by Sirek Landscaping. There were several challenges to this project along the way, but Tom and his crew perservered and we are so delighted with the end results. We have received numerous compliments from neighbors and people passing by. Even the mailman left us a nice note about how great everything looks! Becuase we live in the city, the work space was very constricted, but Tom's crew was extremely careful and respectful of our neighbors' space. They even preserved my boulevard garden! Our brick retaining wall is absolutely beautiful and it should last more many decades to come. I should also mention the prompt and thorough clean-up that took place as soon as each stage of the project was completed."

"I had old shrubs and rocks pulled out. I needed a lot of soil as it has eroded around the house. They installed new window wells on the side. We kept the shrubs and plants on the side and in the back and added new plastic and rocks. They provided three yews in the front and I purchased the others at Bachman's. The team came and worked about three hours. They did a great job. I'm really happy. It's been in now almost six weeks. They also needed to add a couple of rows of sod in the front. I've received lots of compliments. Definitely would hire again."
