"My inspector Ian was an extremely polite young man. He was very thorough investigating my foundation and type of basement and working with me. He was able to show me and describe the process used by the company to drain tile my basement. He also gave me options provided by their business and other alternatives. He used visuals and showed me what I need to do to prep for the job. I feel it was a very comprehensive experience and had no questions by time it was done."

"They quickly fixed plugged drain, and then went over my list giving pricing and recommendations for each item. We agreed on fixing the toilet which was again quickly and professionally done. I was very satisfied with their punctuality, professionalism and courtesy, transparency and quick completion of the projects. Would absolutely use the again and refer them to others."

"We met with Steve Walker to review and provide a proposal for the job. At first we were looking at asphalt, but converted the planned project to concrete for the benefits of concrete driveway and matching parking pad on side of garage. Steve was the absolute professional with a positive attitude, very knowledgeable approach, and a great (and appropriate) sense of humor. We have a paver apron and somewhat complex paver walk that we wanted to preserve. With the shift from asphalt to concrete, those pavers would have to be adjusted to meet the straighter forms used for concrete and a different elevation necessary to achieve level grade and slope from the settled 40-year-old driveway. We did discuss adjusting and resetting the pavers as an option with Steve but he reluctantly informed us that they do not perform paver work. We were ready to choose Aurora based on a competitive price and by far the best proposal process and proposal deliverable out of the 5 contractors that bid the job. We did select a contractor that could manage all the elements of driveway and pavers (they installed our 850 square foot patio in 2016) and would not require me to spend time securing additional resources, a separate contractor, or doing it myself. That was the ONLY reason we did not select Aurora. We actually had to spend a bit more on the concrete portion to secure a contractor that would handle the job turnkey. That was a hit to the pocketbook, but a big value in time and energy for us to find a paver resource that could do all the work in one visit with one team. Summary: We did not move the project past proposal, but the process and pricing to that point were top of the list. Steve and Ron at Aurora were very professional and very fair. Even in the face of changes from asphalt to concrete, and a separate trip out to the house to evaluate a different plan for concrete and dealing with pavers, there was no complaint or pressure. I'm very familiar with construction and concrete, but did not tout that. Steve did not try to "sell" me on a different approach. He only demonstrated a helpful, advisory, friendly, and knowledgeable demeanor. I wish I could work with more people and contractors like Steve and Aurora."

"Eric and John did plumbing work at my home a month ago, and I was happy to see their familiar faces arrive to replace our broken bathroom sink. I had purchased a replacement sink that was ready for installation. The cracked sink was removed and the new sink installed. Eric quoted the job before the work was done so I had no surprise costs upon completion. Because I had previously purchased Aquarius’ annual plumbing repair plan, I was able to save on the service fee and saved an additional 15% on the job. Once again, I was impressed with Eric and John’s professionalism and attention to detail. The replacement is installed better than the original had been by my previous plumbing company."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Statistics show that 98% of basements will experience some form of water damage over time. However, that doesn’t mean all basements will experience severe flooding. The best way to prevent a water-damaged basement is to keep up with home maintenance and have proper drainage installed outside your home to direct water away from the foundation. You can also consider building a flood wall around the house if you live in a flood-prone area.

There are several things you can do to maintain your sump pump and prevent sump pump problems. For instance, keeping a lid on your sump pit goes a long way in protecting your pump system from silt, sand, dirt, and other debris. When water drains from the outside, such as along your foundation, or with melting snow, water runoff often brings sediment with it.

Also be wary of corrosion, particularly if your sump pump system is made of metal. Keep an eye out for rust and have it inspected regularly by a plumber or sump pump technician.

Yes, many contractors offer warranties for their work. Confirm terms before starting the project.

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

If the time has come to install a French drain in your yard, basement, or crawl space, there's a solid chance you've been battling water damage—or the threat of water damage—around these areas. Thankfully, proper drainage should allow you to redesign these areas of your home without the fear of being inundated during the next storm. If you've had to remove a portion of your lawn for an exterior French or curtain drain, consider reseeding your lawn to patch up the spot. You can also take this opportunity to enhance your foundation waterproofing methods or even start thinking about finishing your basement .
