"Had a pipe burst in ceiling and caused Sheetrock damage. MJQ painting was hired to repair. They did an awesome job and matched the repair to the rest of the ceiling. Mark was great to work with and Milton was exceptional at doing the repair."

"Absolutely perfect!! Brad was excellent to work with. From front to finish, he did a professional job explaining all the steps of the project, worked quickly and provided the highest quality in workmanship. Clean-up was superb. Highly recommend to anyone requiring drywall work. Price was extremely competitive."

Small jobs welcome

"I am extremely pleased with the work done by Jude and his company, Beautiful Things Drywall, LLC. His cost estimate for our project came in more than 30% lower than other proposals. He was prompt in arriving to begin the project, and completed it over the span of two days, as promised. His work is top-notch, and he did a good job with clean-up afterwards. A few days later, we asked him to return to skim mud over the air bubbles that appeared after sanding, which he did the same day that we contacted him. He's been in the Drywall business for 18 years, and the high quality of his work reflects this. He will certainly be my first call if I ever need additional drywall work done on my home."

"These guys are truly the drywall ninjas! We had a DIY kitchen remodel project we needed completed ASAP to close on a loan, but time was running too close for us to be able do the drywall ourselves. Worse, we needed to be out of town that weekend. I called Noelge at 7 AM on a Friday to see if they were available. By 7:45 AM Dave was at our house for the estimate. He got a crew assembled -- over a holiday weekend, no less -- and the drywall was complete by the time we got home that Monday. We finished the rest of the project ourselves and the loan closed on time. Through the holiday weekend, Noelge stayed in touch with us and kept us up to date on their progress. They were outstanding to work with from start to finish. The next time I have a drywall project, I'm calling Noelge."

"I was really happy with Justin and his team. For me this was a big job and involved a lot of money and a lot of moving parts. The ceiling texturing had been poorly done so removal was not as simple as scraping popcorn ceilings. The house had many different dark colored walls so the painting over them was not a simple task either. Justin is very meticulous and thorough and his crew is polite and determined to get everything just right. I can recommend them without any hesitation whatsoever."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

Regularly in areas prone to moisture or high traffic to catch issues early.

How you hang the drywall can affect the finishing process. It's often easier to finish horizontal drywall panels, as the seams run across the wall rather than up and down. Standard drywall panels are 48 inches wide, so the seam is easy to reach without bending down or stretching your arms.

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.
