"Josiah was punctual. He did a fine job He replaced a few feet of plastic water lines with copper pipe and secured it to a piece of wood to hold it tight I had noticed when the washer filled with water the plastic water tubing would jump around. This secured it ! He put in a new faucet. It looks very nice. He got it all done in a timely manner. He was very pleasant and explained what needed to be done and we agreed. We also had him flush our water heater too we were very pleased with his work."

"Went above and beyond, rerouted our internet to a different coax outlet so we could bring in the antenna feed where we needed it. Kept after the stray voltages until he sussed 'em all out and got us lots of signal, with good (low profile on roof) esthetics. Cleaned up after himself (something another review mentioned as a negative)."

"We hired Rob & his team at Custom Christmas Lighting to install lights at our home for a Halloween party and then swapping out for Christmas colors after Halloween. We usually do our lighting ourselves and time got away from us. I googled, and Custom Christmas Lighting was right on top. Rob was extremely responsive, walked our property, gave me a very reasonable bid, had a contract to me within hours. 1 week later, I came home from a work event and was blown away by how amazing our home and property looked. I knew it was great even before I got home because my neighbors were texting me asking for contact info. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat. In fact, they did our Christmas lighting in 2007 as well!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Typically, refrigerators should not be plugged into GFCI outlets. This is another appliance with a motor that can be prone to a little current leakage. Using a standard outlet saves nuisance tripping and the potential of waking up to a refrigerator full of warm food. The only exception is when the refrigerator is in a garage, where all outlets must be GFCI.

Typically, a local home energy auditor is responsible for performing energy audits. A home energy auditor will conduct one of three energy audits designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to determine the energy efficiency of your home. The auditor often provides analysis that can help guide changes and improvements to your home for better energy efficiency, giving recommendations as necessary.

Different fences use different amounts of electricity, but their operating costs are very low overall. Electric fences pull between 4 and 25 watts from the system if you have an average-sized yard. Barring any complicated math, you can expect an average electric fence to cost less than $5 a month to run. Aboveground electric fences, which are not typical for residential use or small animals, can cost more, but you shouldn't notice a significant change in your electric bill.

Doorbell wires typically won't spark because they carry low voltage. However, if there's a short circuit or damaged wiring, sparking could occur. Always turn off the power at the breaker box before working with doorbell wires to prevent any risk. If you notice any sparking, it's a sign of a problem that a professional electrician should address.

It prevents electrical surges, protects your home from things like electrical fires, and prevents you from getting shocked if an errant surge runs through your power line. Without grounded wires, your appliances could also get damaged during lightning storms.
