However, appearances can be deceiving. While our contract allowed 60 days for build and install, this ultimately ran at least a week late. While Andre was always responsive to questions and concerns, we never felt confident the communication was clear on both sides. Obviously, not entirely the fault of the contractor. We had several finished dimension issues, with the base cabinet height built below spec relative to the apron sink. Once installed, the sink sat higher than all surrounding cabinets and three off the counter install. This was fixed with shim pieces and finish trim pieces to fill gaps.
The most glaring issues with the finished product were a corner base cabinet that was constructed on site since the scale would not allow an assembled cabinet through the door passages. It's not a completely enclosed box , with the back crafted on site and only partially completed before counters were installed. Further, there were screws misfired through three places along the Fridge revealed side panel, that are very visible scars. The cabinet maker refused to rebuild the panel, rather attempted to sand, patch, stain and reseal. This didn't correct the flaw, so 'footballs' (gouges) were carved out of the areas and he attempted to correct offsite, then glue up the plugs. Now, this looks worse than the first attempt, especially with the unmatched stain and clear coat. Its bad enough that we've considered having someone out in an attempt to cut a veneer for the whole panel piece to cover. There are pieces of cabinet edges and door backs that were poorly sanded before coatings applied, leaving a rough finish. The clear coat(s), clearly show bubbles and drip marks in quite a few places. There were several cabinet edges that were visible (Fridge panel edges, dishwasher adjacent bases), and yet unstained or clear coated. We handled this ourselves afterward.
The final payment was demanded in advanced of what the contract stipulated was complete. 3-4 cabinet doors, dishwasher panel, and drawer fronts had not been installed, no crown, toe or trim hung, missing hinges, rear mounting screws that weren't fully driven, etc. We paid and parted ways at that point.
Frankly, we wouldn't steer people away from working with Authentic Cabinetworks, and we believe Andre has a great sense of design and skill. We just felt our expecations were not entirely met.

To sum up - repeat visits were required for each of these components in order to correct problems. I experienced problems in every phase of the project. To start, one cabinet was ordered incorrectly, delaying completion of the project by three weeks. I was also promised at the time of sale that I could get the details of the paint used for the cabinets, so that I could paint my old cabinets to match. When the time came to get this info I was then told the cabinet company would not divulge it. During install I discovered that the countertops were not cut to the dimensions we agreed on in the measuring preview visit. After install I noticed that the countertop was not level (was off by 1/8\" per foot). The countertop subcontractor said this was because the cabinets were not level. The cabinet installer said that the cabinets had to be installed that way and that the countertop installers should have corrected for it. It was very frustrating to have two teams representing the same company blaming each other for the problem. It was corrected after much insistence on my part. The hole for the drop-in cooktop was cut too large the first time, requiring re-cutting and re-installaton of a whole new piece of countertop. The sink faucet stopped working within three hours of the install, and I did not receive \"all new plumbing from the wall out\" as promised at time of sale, so this too had to be corrected on a followup visit. The sink undercoating sound dampener was offgassing extremely strong chemical smells for weeks after install, creating sinus problems. I had to hire someone to correct the problem (use of cheap sound dampening pads containing asphalt-like components). Because of lack of attention to detail throughout this project, I cannot recommend this company for kitchen renovation work."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/al/birmingham/mazer-furniture-reviews-4766445.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"MEMO'S FINISHING & CABINETS","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"MN","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Cynthia G."},"reviewBody":"My cabinets are old but sturdy. I was planning on just painting them white to save money, but after talking with Memo, he suggested refacing as an alternative. This turned out to be a fantastic idea. He explained step-by-step what the process would be and offered me choices along the way. He made a new set of doors and drawer facings and worked with me to pick out the hardware I liked. Since my kitchen is old and the floors are not quite level, squaring the doors and drawers seemed like it was going to be impossible. Steve did a great job. A couple of the hinges were not working properly and he fixed those for us, cleaned and then touched up and polyed the cabinets. He was here for about five hours and did such a great job. It feels like a new kitchen. So happy we had him in.

Jim came out to the house to bid on kitchen cabinets for an extensive kitchen remodel. He submitted a preliminary drawing and extensive bid, which I very much appreciated, but ended up going with a company closer to home.

"I found Mike with New Look Cabinet online and I decided to go with him because he gave me straight forward answers, an honest price and an overall good feeling when I met him unlike many of the other companies I had called or met with. I don't think I could've been any happier with my decision and the over all job he did. Mike was great to work with. Once my job was scheduled to start, he showed up on time, worked in a clean, respectful manner and completed the job quickly while still taking his time paying attention to detail. Mike was awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. Thanks Mike!"

Just small nits on communication."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts
Yes, you can replace just your cabinet doors, assuming the structure of the cabinets themselves is sound. Replacing only the doors can save you money when renovating your cabinets. New cabinet doors cost $300 on average, but range from $200 to $400, depending on the material and size. Keep in mind that replacement doors made of materials like fiberboard and engineered wood are less expensive than wooden cabinet doors.
Yes, cabinet makers continue to fabricate custom kitchen and other household cabinets for new construction homes. Cabinet makers also replace and renovate existing kitchen cabinets. The cost tends to be higher than choosing manufactured cabinets from a major retailer, but you get the cabinets specially designed and made to fit the unique needs of your space.
Common problems include loose hinges, broken doors, water damage, and scratches. Regular maintenance helps prevent significant issues.
You can modernize an old-looking closet by just painting it, but beyond that, consider electric elements like recessed or accent lighting. If this is a large and deep closet, you can consider adding an island to the middle or a nice ottoman on a rug. Luxury closets will have even more items, like felt-lined drawers for watches and jewelry, in-wall safes, electronic shoe storage, or a tablet catalog of their items.
Medicine cabinets are not necessarily outdated, but they have evolved in design and functionality. However, some homeowners prefer other storage solutions, like wall-mounted shelving or modern vanity cabinets with built-in storage. Still, medicine cabinets remain a practical and space-saving choice in many bathrooms. In most cases, potential home buyers won’t be swayed by a medicine cabinet one way or the other.
