"Dmitriy and his guys did a great job re-doing a herringbone kitchen backsplash that a previous contractor had completely screwed up. Each step of the process was done well (demo, drywall repairs, tile install, etc.) and we’re extremely happy with the finished product. We would definitively hire them again."

"We hired David of Fusion Finishing to assist in finishing/refinishing our basement. This project included refinishing the basement living space and bathroom and finishing other spaces to create a hallway and bedroom. From our first phone call to completion of the project, we appreciated David's professionalism and knowledge. He listened to what we wanted to do and came back with a detailed and itemized estimate of what was needed to make it happen. In addition, David was willing to partner with us on the scope of work to be completed so that I could both own a segment of work for which I was qualified for and keep project cost reasonable. He communicated with us regularly via e-mail, phone and text message to keep us apprised of status and to ask any necessary questions to keep the project moving forward. He was quick to answer our questions and to offer thoughtful suggestions in order to improve upon our plans or adjust to challenges encountered . He kept a clean work site and didn't complain when my wife stepped in wet cement (her fault). His quality of work is top notch and all subcontractors brought in were of the same level. Overall we are very happy with how the project went and would hire David in the future for other projects."

"4 days after moving into our new townhome we dicovered a toilet flange had been leaking, for some time, and caused the subfloor below it to rot. We had to tear out some tiles, and install new subfloor. We had some tile left over from the original owner, and needed someone to install them. Talked to Jessie at Precision Tile, and fortunately he could come the next day. He did a great job of quickly installing backer board, thinset, Tile and grout at a fair price. Tile turned out great, and we were able to reset the toilet. Unfortunately the grout wasn't a perfect match with the old grout, but that was corrected with a grout colorant product. Overall very satisfied."

"This was the third time we worked with Atreas on a project. We did not have a plan and relied on Corey's advice and expertise. The bathroom came out beautiful, on time and under budget. We could not be happier and will definitely hire them again for future projects. Uploading one "before" photo and several "after.""

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.
