"Initially booked 12-2 window was called and asked if plumber could come out an hour earlier. No problem. Thomas came out looked at my initial toilet issue, found the problem with water supply and fixed it quickly. I had second toilet looked at as well to have preventative service done. Second had issue with leaky pipe under drain, discovered a variety of unknown (to me) issues and fixed them as well. I ended up spending more that I initially had planned, but once these issues were discovered, wanted to get them fixed ASAP. I would recommend Thomas & Plumb Right to family and friends."

"I thought the plumber would have the fairly standard unit I needed. He didn't, so to get it fixed I went to Home Depot and bought a good replacement while plumber removed the old unit. That worked well and he said I saved a couple of hundred so, good. I haven't paid yet, because he needs to get new seats for the old bathroom sink faucet that has a very slow leak. Need to finish that part or just call it a project and take care of the bathroom later."

"Professional Honest and Fast. He gave ideas on how to avoid future clogs and slow drain. He didn't suggest he do more drains then the one impacted like other drain companies do. I have his card and will be calling for other drain issues."

"I want to give a huge shout-out to Derek Kragenbring from SafeBasements for his integrity and professionalism. We had persistent basement flooding, and two previous contractors convinced us to spend over $6,000 on a sump pump and humidifier. After the install, the flooding got worse, and they suggested tearing down our bathroom wall for more work. We called SafeBasements for a second opinion, and Derek quickly identified the real issue: our water softener was discharging water into a clogged drain. We didn't need a sump pump at all—just a simple plumbing fix! Thank you, Derek, for your honesty. You saved us from a massive headache and even more unnecessary expenses. We only wish we had called you sooner. If you need an honest, expert assessment, definitely reach out to Derek at SafeBasements!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. You can also use a two-liter soda bottle filled with water to push pressurized water into the pipe to dislodge the debris (see the steps above).

The cost to repair a main sewer line clog is about $3,110 on average. The average cost range is  $1,310 to $4,950, but it can go as low as $215 and as high as $9,300 or more. The cost factors for this repair include the severity of the clog, pipe accessibility, video inspection, removal method, permits, pipe material, labor rates in your area, and time of year. Repairs made from outside during the winter can be more difficult due to the frozen ground or during the spring if the ground is saturated from a lot of rain and snow melt.

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.

There are a few reasons your snake won’t go down the floor drain. One common reason is a large obstruction in the drain that is causing a blockage. You can remove any debris you see in the drain before trying to snake it. In addition, the snake might not be long enough to reach the clog, or it might be the wrong diameter.

Food grease, soap buildup, paper products, and tree roots often cause serious clogs.
