"I hired Home Seal Insulation to fix exterior insulation. Chad is great to work with! He is fantastic at communicating and very kind! Home Seal Insulation is the only company we will contact going forward for insulation needs!"
"Ryan, Miguel, Luis and staff did a great job removing old insulation, inspect, clean & disinfect, spray foam, and blow in new insulation. They were efficient, kept me informed, cleaned up well, and addressed minor issues after the completion was complete. I had planned to also spray foam the basement, but we could not vacate the house (fumes) with a member in hospice. This will be done as soon as we are able. Highly recommended!"
"The guys did a great job. Covered my garage and all items in it with plastic sheeting . I was impressed how clean it was when they left. Did not expect the level of service I received. Job was 5 Stars ++. Would recommend 3 Polar Bears Solutions LLC of Rosemont, MN of you are looking to upgrade the insulation in your home."
"The owners Mace and PJ are great guys and easy to work with! Got back to me very fast with any questions I needed answered. They also have fair prices. If I ever need spray foam again I will definitely be using them! Very professional!"
"It went very well. A professional company that will go the extra mile for its customer. I am well pleased with their work and would recommend them to all."
"I could not be more impressed with Jesse and his team. They were so responsive, so professional, and so incredibly helpful. Great communication throughout. Great work product. Pricing that was very competative and reasonable. The next time I have an insulation need I won't even both to get bids from other shops. I will just use Century. Highly recomend."
"Started well and I scheduled them well ahead of time although I had to demand the date I wanted; they were scheduling according to the order the deposits came in. A few days before the date the owner called to say it would be split into two days, blown blanket, then the following day the foam application. Not major, but annoying. My time is worth something and given the lead time in scheduling this seems questionable at best. The blown blanket guys were all right but failed to do a couple minor things I think they should have. I'm not an expert on this and I expect the professionals will do a professional job. When the foam team arrived the following day I pointed out the missing items to them and they did take care of it. I had to put a 50% deposit down and offered the remainder to the foam team as they left. They said I'd get a bill in the mail. And now wonder; the bill was 11% higher than the written proposal. The owner - who does the proposals - missed an overhang along a 16' wall which increased the foam cost. I have no objection to the cost, but I do feel blindsided by the way it was presented. The foam team could have warned me and failing that the owner or someone from the firm could have called to advise me about it - and apologize for missing it, perhaps. Based on this experience I'd prefer to do business with a more professional outfit. "
"We've had Home Pro America provide service with several projects. After this last one we agreed to share our experience in this review of their work. We had an issue with ice dams, and had Home Pro out, their recommendations for air sealing, insulation and ventilation were a little more than we were planning to spend. We had another contractor out and for the attic air sealing, they recommended all the existing insulation be removed to seal the attic. We ended up hiring Home Pro and saved more than $1,000. We've since had our roof done and gutter covers installed. We would highly recommend Home Pro America."
"A & R Insulation just took care of insulating my attic, including installing air chutes, etc. They were communicative, on time, professional and cleaned everything up after completing the job. I highly recommend this company!"
The best type of insulation for your home depends on your specific needs, climate, and the area you are insulating. For new construction, structural insulated panels are a highly energy-efficient option that is easy to install during the building process. In very warm climates, reflective insulation can be a cost-effective choice. For cold climates, fiberglass is an excellent option due to its high R-value and resistance to settling over time. Spray foam works well in humid environments because of its moisture-resistant properties. For standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation are all suitable options.
The average cost to install insulation is around $1,800, but you could pay anywhere between $500 and $4,500, depending on various factors. Some of the things that have a significant influence on your pricing include the following:
Size of the area
Type and R-value of the insulation
Whether your space is finished or unfinished
Accessibility of the area
Your geographical location
Amount of site preparation, especially for blown-in insulation
Whether or not you need old insulation removed
Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.
To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.
Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.
