"Very well, these guys are great, they seal everything right and load tons of insulation. My house is now at a R60. And this was not cheap, however I do not expect heating costs to go down for many years to come unless we all go solar."

"As always, we are thrilled with the work done by Hoffman Weber Construction. Love the look of the windows - but also the safety factor. The installers were on time, friendly, and did a super job. We would hire them for any of their services."
"Mark and his crew showed up on time (Friday morning) to perform the work. They initially laid down pads and painters sheets since blowing in cellulose insulation can get quite dusty/messy. They performed the work exactly as described in the bid. Insulating my attic to R60 (up from what it was of R12-15) and filled in all the joists, etc. They even build a wooden platform around an air handler in the attic so it can still be maintained with ease. One of Mark's co-worker spent most of the time in the basement fixing the frozen pipe issue. He applied insulation and sealant in a crawl space near the main water line and reseated an air vent behind the wall, while applying more insulation. He even went to a local hardware store and procured a vent to cover up a hole in the wall we wanted to leave exposed so warm air can flow through (didn't even ask or think to charge me for the vent). The job lasted about 6 hours (which was exactly what Mark quoted). They cleaned up with a shop vac so the house looked very clean when they left. All in all, was very pleased with the professionalism, knowledge and service provided by Mark and his crew. I proudly displayed a sign in my front yard advertising his services to others and would recommend him to family/friends. "
"Great, I could not find anyone willing to do this for us. Mark was running a little behind but had the courtesy to call and let me know that. He worked past 5pm to get the project done for us. Instead of running the cable on the outside of the house like others recommended, he ran the cable up a cold air return to the attic and then over to the bedroom. Along the way, he also gave us useful tips and tricks with the furnace, insulation and took a look at some other work will need in the future. He was clean, professional, friendly and honest."
"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."
The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.
If the temperature outside is around 90 or 100 degrees with the sun beating on your home’s roof, it’s common for the attic temperature to reach 150 degrees or more. This excessive heat shows the importance of having a radiant barrier in place along with insulation. The radiant barrier reflects the heat entering the attic back upward, keeping your home’s temperature more consistent.
Although spray foam insulation typically has a higher price point than traditional insulation, the benefits often justify the investment. It offers superior sealing properties, which can lead to significant energy bill savings. Spray foam also provides excellent moisture resistance and soundproofing. Other advantages include improved indoor air quality by minimizing allergens, a long lifespan of 80 to 100 years, added structural strength to the home, and a straightforward installation process.
It is possible to insulate your walls without removing drywall, but it’s not a good idea to attempt the work yourself. A professional can use blown-in insulation or spray foam insulation to fill wall voids without opening up the walls, and the option they use typically depends on your climate and whether or not there’s insulation in your wall already that can remain in place. Spray foam insulation costs more and isn’t always a viable option, but it’s a better insulator. Call in an expert to help decide which is right for you.
We do not recommend fiberglass insulation for soundproofing purposes, especially if you are working on a room that’s part of your living space. Fiberglass insulation is dangerous, and the installation process is hazardous. It is also harmful to the environment. When there are so many newer, healthier non-fiberglass alternatives in the market, the lower cost of fiberglass insulation simply doesn’t justify the harm and danger it poses.
