"We are absolutely thrilled with the bathroom remodels performed by Construction as Investment, LLC. We needed to remodel two of our three bathrooms. The two bathrooms are of moderate size, yet we had received estimates ranging from $25-$50,000, which seemed extreme. We then saw the big deal the company was offering for a full bathroom remodel for $5,000 and purchased two of the big deals after researching and finding good reviews on their work.



Vitaly was the project manager and he took the time to answer our questions and provided good suggestions for a few tricky details in our spaces. He also provided all of the needed measurements and instructions so we could confidently go and pick out all of the materials we wanted to use. This was especially helpful with the tile since my wife and I have never done a project with tile before and weren't experts by any means at understanding what to look for and what we would need. Before and during the remodels, I primarily communicated with Vitaly by texting and he was always prompt in responding. This method of communicating was quick and efficient and made it easy to keep the work moving.



Viktor is the companies "bathroom guy" and is an amazing craftsman and hard worker. He actually did both bath remodels all on his own, yet completed the work quicker than the time estimates we had gotten from the other companies that had given us estimates. And it wasn't from cutting corners, etc. Instead, Viktor's work was outstanding. Our city inspector even remarked about the high quality of workmanship on the remodels. Viktor is a very kind, quite and honorable individual. Because we had two bathroom remodels, Viktor spent a fair amount of time in our home and he really felt like a friend by the time the remodels were complete. We were actually sad when the remodels were finished because it meant we wouldn't see him anymore. When has anyone ever said that about someone working in their home? Our nanny homeschools our youngest daughter, so they and our dog were around the house each day with Viktor. He was always friendly to them and they enjoyed seeing him each day.



About a month after the remodels were complete, we had a crack in the grout in the corner of one of the showers. I texted Vitaly and he made arrangements for Viktor to stop back over one evening and make the repair. There was no hassle in resolving the issue and it was nice to see their commitment to doing the right thing even after the work is over and they've been paid.



We had a tremendous experience with this company and would highly recommend them to others looking for a company that does good work and stands behind it.

"I contacted Hentges Carpentry for an exterior door install during the first week of March for an exterior door install after finding them through Home Advisor. Raine, the owner, came and gave me an estimate and luckily was able to get to our project later that week even with the snow and cold. I purchased the door and new lock hardware the day of the estimate although he could have ordered it for me also. He and his coworker Chris arrived on time and got right to work. They did an excellent job and even replaced some rotten wood beneath the door once it was removed. They worked quickly although I never once felt the that they rushed through the job. They were both very friendly and kept me informed throughout the project with what they found and the methods they would use to fix it. The cost was right on par with the other estimates I recieved. "Matthew took his time in providing us with a plan well beyond what we were thinking, including a visual image of what the project would look like. Matthew worked with the city to get the permit approved and he organized the delivery of all of the materials. From start to finish, the job took approximately 2 weeks. My new garage/shed was finished approximately one year after I signed the contract with Heinen.  He did a good job of designing the garage (in his head; no drawings) in a way that was economical and works.  Greg Heinen is very personable and generally easy to talk to.  We talked over options and worked through questions and decided on a final design.  My dissatisfaction mostly arises from the length of time it took to finish the work and the difficulty I had in knowing what was going on with the construction schedule. 

Problems started (at least in part) due to heavy rains in June of 2014, which seemed to get everything delayed for months.  I also now (in hindsight) think that because Greg is a relatively small general contractor who works with a number of subcontractors, the delays were due to the availability of many of his subs.  The original start date was to be June of 2014, then pushed back to late July, and then he couldn't give me a date and stopped communicating with me. A crew finally came to demolish the existing garage in late September.  The general pattern was that Greg would tell me when crews would be out, more often than not the crew would not show up on that day, and I would get a series of promised start dates that also did not happen.  Construction continued sporadically in this manner through October and November, and in December I had a garage that was usable (although without electricity except via extension cord).  This spring they finished up with a new driveway (the first was incorrectly put in) and the electrical hook-up.  Some of what I wanted for the garage/shed did not occur and I had to decide whether it was more important to get the garage done or to get it done in accordance with the contract.  Because it was so late in the year, I generally decided on getting things done.  The item that I am most unhappy with is the eave depth. They were supposed to be 18" but wound up being only 12".  Since the roof trusses. were brought onsite pre-constructed, I didn't realize the depth was off until they and the walls were up  so I could measure.  By that time it was late October or November and I needed a garage for the winter.

In general, my experience with the subs is that a few of them showed up when they were supposed to and worked full days, but more of them seemed to show up about 10 a.m. and leave about 3 p.m.  One crew of two showed up at 10 and I saw one of the guys standing around for two hours.  He said they had thought nails would be there, but the right kind of nails weren't there, so the other guy had to get them.  So, it took this guy 2 hours to get the nails (!) and then they left at 3.  On the other hand, the crews that did the framing and put in the second driveway did an excellent job, and the garage and shed function well.  I wonder if part of the problem is that Greg trusts his subs and some of them take advantage of that. Greg seldom came out to see how things were going and seemed to just ask the subs what was going on and simply take their word for it.

In summary, I got the garage and shed we discussed (with the exception of a few items which Greg readily removed from the final cost) and am happy with how it works.  The process of getting the garage, however, is not one I'd like to go through again.

"I think the finishing around the window could've been a little bit nicer. Our basement isn't really finished. It still the brick wall, cement wall.It just seems like it could've been finished off more than it was. They were quick. I didn't see a lot of debris or anything. I know sawing through cement can be messy but they seemed to be very clean and efficient. They were out here pretty quick. We checked around and they were very reasonable."
