"We had a high complexity project requiring working with 2 separate homeowners for a single structure (an 1891 townhouse). The team at Keyprime were extremely clear about project risks and expectations, and that meant that when additional issues were discovered during the project, we already knew about the possibility and were prepared to deal with them. They were excellent communicators (even during a literal plague) and provided really high quality service. The price is relatively high for a re-roof/new gutters, but the material quality is excellent and the workmanship is great."

"Our experience with Brothers Gutters was pleasurable. We were happy with everything from the estimate to the completion of the job. The men who installed the gutters were professional and very courteous. They even offered to clean our sky light for us while they were up on the roof! We highly recommend Brothers Gutters."

"Everything went extremely well! We simultaneously had our house trim painted, so Mike (Grand Gutters employee) was able to remove the old gutters before the painters got to work. This was much more difficult than anticipated, but they did the job without complaint or extra charge (which was much appreciated). Once the house was painted, John (the owner) came back to install the new gutters. He also painted and installed downspout leader boxes and decorative brackets. Overall, he was very professional and kept me up to date during the installation. We highly recommend Grand Gutter and would work with them again!

"I had Simply Gutters out recently to replace some older gutters and downspouts on my home. They also added a section of new gutters to an additional area as well. The two person team worked efficiently to complete the project in a reasonable amount of time. The final results looked great. I’m confident their quality product will perform well in the long term. I did opt for gutter covers as well, due to the presence of several large 60 year old maple trees on my property. The covers are a great upgrade, versus the cheap plastic inserts I’ve used in year’s past. Do be aware that Simply Gutters may well prioritize jobs they obtain working as a subcontractor for various roofing companies. As such, they may be somewhat less responsive to direct outreach. This was my experience. How such an arrangement will factor into your final cost is unknown. All said, however, still a very positive experience and well recommended to any interested homeowner looking for a gutter upgrade."

"There were a few mistakes by the second crew that I was unhappy with.  They cut the shingles over an area in my yard, leaving quite a bit of very small metal shards that they didn't pick up with the magnet.  There were also some nails missed.  I know this because I bought my own magnetic sweeper (an identical model) and spent time thoroughly cleaning up after them.  There were a few corners cut and a few sloppy spots, such as on cutting into the stucco for the riglet (later had to patch it) and a runny caulking/sealing job.  In addition, they ran short of some of the specialty pieces needed.  This was a problem since there was miscommunication between them and Adrian and he didn't find out until after the distributor had closed for the holiday weekend.  So the last bit of work had to wait until after that weekend.

I have put off this review for too long, simply because I was a bit daunted in describing the ins and outs of the experience, and providing and honest but fair grade.  Instead of writing the exhaustive review I wanted, I think I'm going to have to settle for the short version.

I contracted with Adrian from All American Exteriors to replace the roof.  I was happy with his demeanor and responsiveness and definitely his pricing.  After having taken a bit of damage from 2011's ice dams, I wanted to assure that such a thing wouldn't happen again for a long time, if ever.

The problem here is that the work was started by one crew of subcontractors who did a terrible job in tearing off the old roof.  They did not put down tarps and had no respect for landscaping (they just dumped piles of shingles directly onto it, even after repeated requests not to do that).  Potentially worse, they left for the day without putting a roof tarp over the now-exposed roof.  The only thing that saved that from being a disaster is that the rain held off until the next morning after the foreman arrived and scrambled to put a tarp in place.  This was the last straw and at my request, Adrian fired that crew and replaced it with another.

The second crew was much better and I felt confident that they might actually do a competent job installing the roofing.  This was an area I was nervous about, since these metal shingle roofs are a bit of a puzzle.  You must fit the pieces together in the proper way with the proper care, or you will get leaks.  You also have to deal with custom work cutting pieces to fit variations in different roofs.  Though it is a small house (it took 18 squares of shingles) my roof has a chimney and several peaks and valleys.

All told, the job took far, far longer than it should have because of these factors.  In total, it was over a week for a fairly small roof.  I even got remarks from my neighbors, wondering what was going on that it was taking so long.

Adrian said that this was a learning experience for him, as it was his first metal roof install on his own (though he didn't install it, he did all the estimating).  He claims he lost money on it, though that's a typical thing a contractor will say.  In this case, I believe him.  But he took ultimate responsibility and that salvaged the experience.  As I said, it was hard to grade the whole thing given what happened.  The low grade for punctuality is basically a reflection of how long the whole process took.  The other grades simply dropped from an A down to a B.  Had I graded it after that first crew, it would have been an F.  But he took the right attitude in fixing it and I appreciate that.  And it's been almost a year later and there have been no leaks in the roof, and that's the most important thing."

"They were good. They came out, measured it, gave me a price. They gave me a date, came out on that date. Got everything done. I had no issues and no problems with the gutters. Cleaned up after themselves it was a very smooth experience."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes, many homeowners find that seamless gutters are worth the investment. Although they have a higher upfront cost than standard gutters—an average of $2,700 compared to $2,000—their benefits often outweigh the price difference. Seamless gutters last longer, require less maintenance, and are less prone to clogs and leaks due to having fewer seams. In contrast, standard gutters typically have seams every 10 feet, which can leak and require new sealant every one to five years. Additionally, seamless gutters are considered more aesthetically pleasing, come in a variety of colors to match your home, and can improve your home's curb appeal and potential value.

The most common problem with gutters is clogging from debris like leaves, blossoms, and seeds from surrounding trees. This debris can block downspouts, leading to improper drainage and water overflow.

Other common issues include:

  • Leaks and holes, which can often be repaired with gutter sealant or caulk.

  • Rust, sagging, or detachment from the roofline.

  • Damage from strong storms.

  • Improperly pitched gutters that don't drain correctly.

Regular cleaning in the spring and fall is the best way to prevent most of these problems. You may need to clean them more often during periods of heavy leaf fall.

While minimal drippage may not be problematic, gutters that are constantly leaking or overflowing indicate damage or improper installation. A rain chain gutter or other ornamental feature may produce more dripping than usual. Likewise, rain dispersal systems may also cause water to sprinkle to the ground. However, if you notice pools of water or flooding around your property, then it’s a good idea to have your gutter system inspected.

Costs range from $150 to $500, depending on the damage and length of gutter needing repair.

Most repairs take 2-4 hours, but extensive repairs or full section replacements may take an entire day.
