Initially incorporated in 1973 as Advent Custom Homes, Inc. by George Rossez (who still runs this small family business today), the company's early emphasis was on new home construction with a few remodeling jobs a year as well. By 1980 Advent converted an old filling station into their current office at 350 Little Canada Road, and the company's focus shifted to remodeling. Advent is a member-in-good-standing of the Remodelors Council of the Twin Cities (RCTC), the Builders Ass'n. of the Twin Cities (BATC), the Builders Ass'n. of Minnesota (BAM) and the National Ass'n. of Home Builders (NAHB). With many years and hundreds of jobs' experience behind them, Advent is ready to solve your remodeling puzzle. Most of their design work can be done "in house," and they choose their subcontractors carefully to provide the best possible workmanship. Build swimming pools, hot tubs, chemicals, retail, service, liner replacement, outdoor kitchens, grills, fire tables

"UNETHICAL BUSINESS, STAY AWAY. My experience with the service department of this company was less than one star. Here are some key takeways: (1) price gouging, (2) untrained technicians, (3) non-transparent pricing, (4) requirement that a credit card be left on permanent file with the company in order to schedule service, (5) won't schedule service while the homeowner is home but rather shows up without notice, (6) aggresively rude Service Manager (Jesse Peterson), and (7) unethical practices."

Pool Construction and Installation questions, answered by experts

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

You should always check your user's manual for the weight capacity of your pool enclosure. In most cases, it is not safe for someone to walk on their enclosure. Professional pool installers will have more experience in repairing enclosure roofs and how to scale them without risking injury.

The best way to heat a swimming pool depends on your pool and location. Those living in sunny environments may find that a solar-powered heater works just fine, but you may need something more reliable, like a gas or electric heater if it’s often cloudy where you live. When in doubt, try a few lower-cost options first to see if they meet your needs before going all in on a more expensive heater.

If you are installing a fiberglass pool, you may want to install or update your patio or deck at the same time to create a safe, comfortable place to sit and dry off or grab a bite to eat after swimming. You might also consider adding a hot tub to the mix, which costs $6,000 on average.

If you don’t have the budget for one, there are numerous ways to warm up your pool without a heater. You can improve the insulation, use solar covers to trap heat from the sun, or even let a black hose sit in the sun until it heats up and delivers fresh, warm water straight to your pool.
