"From the initial visit to measure & consult, to communication, to the 2.5 days of painting, I was totally satisfied with the job! Laurie's bid was literally one third of other companies (4 of them) I got bids from, yet quality did not suffer. Cleanup was great, and she left me the leftover paint. I referred to a friend who also used her."

Premium Painting is a professional residential painting company serving Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs. We specialize in exterior and interior painting of both old and new homes. Our goal is to give you a hassle free experience when it comes to your painting project. By combining friendly service, extensive product knowledge, and superior craftsmanship, we make the process easy and enjoyable for you.

"Our estimate visit was scheduled and completed quickly. We had to wait for the work to be started this past summer because they were very busy but when the work started it was done quickly and well. They arrived on schedule each day (a 2 1/2 day project) and cleaned up at the end of each day. We had up to five painters working at once and all of them were courteous, friendly, and careful of our home space. We were happy to have them here. Lead persons kept us informed of the work plan and answered our questions quickly and completely. The quality of their work was superb. Two of our bedroom's walls had been scarred with a through-the-wall air conditioner that I removed and wall-patched, dry wall damage from removal of 40 year-old wall paper and multiple holes from picture-hanging nails and drapery hardware. The painted walls looked perfectly smooth when they were done. They patched up some other minor wall damage resulting from an earlier window replacement project. After almost 3 days of work they were happy to help us move our heaviest furniture back in place. Two months after completion we haven't found a single out-of-place paint drop, all the walls and ceilings look great, and we're very happy that we chose PP to do the work."

Twin City Insulation, LLC, has been doing weatherization and insulation for more than 30 years. We provide excellent service for our customers and guarantee quality work. We are happy to provide for your weatherization and insulation needs.

"Three people from Twin City Insulation arrived at my home just before 7 AM on the appointed day. One of the first things they did was carefully place clean tarps on the floors in any areas where they would be walking. The owner, Caleb See, and I discussed the work to be done and he relayed the information to his workers, including areas which needed to be sealed/insulated to prevent air leaks. The continuously running ventilation fan was to be installed in the master bathroom. Mr. See explained possible logistical problems that could be encountered in doing this (including installation in a vaulted ceiling). Across the hall from the master bathroom is a laundry room with an exhaust fan. Ultimately, we jointly chose this location for the fan. Mr. See carefully covered cabinetry in that room with plastic sheeting. He installed the fan and the other men worked in the attic, insulating the attic walls to R30 with fiberglass batts and house wrap, installing vent chutes and sealing all attic bypasses. Ceiling pot lights were also calked to prevent air leaks and a drop soffit/ceiling drop were insulated and sealed. Mr. See kept me informed about the progress and any problems encountered. He and his crew discovered exhaust fans from another bathroom and in the kitchen were only vented into the attic. Mr. See also discovered that the kitchen exhaust fan had been improperly installed and he corrected it. (I asked if they could do the additional work to correct these problems and gladly paid an additional $500 to install the new ducting and new roof vents for those fans.) The crew returned the following morning to complete the job. They did a great job cleaning up---carefully folding the tarps to contain any debris. (Mr. See told me they shake them out in the truck, so the debris isn't even left in the yard!) They vacuumed the garage floor and the throw rugs near the door and intended to vacuum the rest of the areas in the house, but I told them not to do it because I had more work scheduled to be done the following day and I would need to vacuum after that. I was very impressed by all members of the company: they were very professional, arrived promptly at the time they said they would (actually, they were a little early!), were respectful of my property, kept me well informed and did a nice job of cleaning up. I definitely would recommend using Twin City Insulation!"

"They were incredible. Joe was a part of both jobs. He was either here or readily available at all times. The exterior crew was very efficient, and yet very meticulous. Unfortunately we have woodpecker damage. They filled these areas, and after painting you can't tell there was damage. On the interior painting, they estimated 5 days and were done in 3. They did a great job of clean-up. The painting job itself was absolutely perfect. I would hire Varsity again, in a heart beat."

Varsity painters started in 1995 as the vision of two friends, Steve Melander and Joe Perry. Both originally from the Twin Cities, they have been in the painting business since 1987.

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

Prime and repaint walls after removal to ensure a clean, finished surface.

When comparing peel-and-stick wallpaper and traditional wallpaper, each has its own pros and cons—the one that’s better for you depends on your needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to install, while traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and can be used in a wider variety of spaces.

Many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can hold up to environments with some level of moisture, such as bathrooms—especially peel-and-stick wallpapers made of vinyl or polyester. However, if you’re considering wallpapering a bathroom that sees a lot of moisture, like a kids’ bathroom or a full bathroom with a steamy shower and inadequate ventilation, even the highest quality wallpapers will peel.

You can wallpaper and paint over certain types of wallpaper, but it’s usually a better idea to remove it first. Removing the wallpaper and prepping the wall before painting is a good way to guarantee a smooth finish that looks professional. If you ever have a moisture or water issue after painting over wallpaper, the paper will bubble and damage your wall. Additionally, you should never paint over wallpaper already peeling or otherwise damaged, as this will leave obvious imperfections in your wall and could lead to additional problems.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.
