"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"

Excellent!   Ed and crew were very friendly and professional, on time, and called if there was a delay.  He answered all of our questions and did a very thorough job.  We wish we would have called him three years ago and will definitely call him again.  We highly recommend him for all your painting needs!  As a side note, we had a garage sale a couple of years ago and a lady that came bought some curtains to go in her newly wallpapered dining room.  She said "if you ever need any wallpapering done call Ed Lundberg, they did an excellent job at my house!"  So if we decide to do any wallpapering we will definitely call him for that project also.

"I was given Diser's contact information from a couple people off a blog website. Before hiring someone I like to look into anyone that I hire. With that being said, I received a quote for him to do a deck repair on my house. I knew it was going to be a difficult job because I own a brick home that the deck we had already had reroofed and fixed up a few years prior. We also didn't want to completely redo the deck either. He and his crew have been hands down the best company that we have worked with on any remodeling project. They are very professional, polite, quick to respond to emails and text messages or phone calls, and very understanding. Throughout the repair he asked questions if he needed approval and was very timely on the job. We are very happy that we hired his company as they were the right company for the job. We also ran into a problem with our skylight leaking and he has graciously been able to give us a quote to get it replaced. It's been amazing to work with him and his crew!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.
