I had estimates from 6 or 7 tree removal companies referred to me by Angi’s and Perfect Landscape was the most reasonably priced. They came twice to my house, first removing a very tall dead ash tree in the front yard on Friday without using their crane. They then came back the following Tuesday and used their crane to remove a tall oak tree (which was close to my house) from my fenced back yard along with a neighbor’s oak tree that was split and sure to fall on my house at some point if not removed. I can’t say enough about the great job Ryan and his crew from Perfect Landscape did. They were efficient, courteous and cleaned up any leftover tree branches etc. from my yard, the street and anything that may have fallen in a neighbor’s yard. The owner Rodney was very reasonable and generous adding an additional tree to their Tuesday workload, again at a very reasonable price. The use of their crane was essential to lift out my huge dead oak tree from my fenced back yard without having to remove the fence or damaging the yard or house. Three cuts and lifts and the tree was gone. Likewise, they removed a neighbor’s tree from between our front yards again using their crane. I highly recommend Perfect Landscape if you need any trees removed and want it done in a timely and professional manner. Pressure-treated wood lasts at least 10 years, but with the right care and treatment, it can last as long as 40 years. Painting the boards is one way to increase the lifespan of pressure-treated wood. The layer of paint provides extra protection for the wood against the exterior elements and insects.
The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
Using a paint sprayer takes a little more practice than a roller, but both are equally effective. If you’re in a hurry and have the experience, a paint sprayer can save you some time on your project. If you’ve never used a sprayer and don’t have the time to learn, using a roller or brush will get you closer to your dream results.
Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.
Applying a topcoat sealer is not required, but it will keep the stain from fading over time. This is particularly important if the stain imparts a color or varnish. If you’re staining exterior wood, you should apply a sealant or finish to prevent weather-related issues down the line. Also, stained wood that lacks a seal won’t look as clean and fresh. A clear topcoat will give it the professional result you want.
